Today here in Arizona it was a balmy 114. The low tonight is 93.

At least it's a dry heat.

If hell exists and I end up there, at least the whole "roasting for all eternity" bit won't bother me so much...

Winner.

Personally, I live in California's Central Valley. When you complain about the heat when it's only 84, I laugh, because when it cools down to 90 early on in the evening here, I start observing how pleasently cool it is.

Last year, we set local records here for consequetive days above 103F, with 21 days straight. We capped out at 108F for three days. At the time, my wife and I had only a poorly performing swamp cooler. When it's 108F outside, and all you've got is a swamp cooler, the simple fact is that you're not making it cooler; you're just making it more humid. Why someone would think it's sufficient to install a swamp cooler in the Central Valley, I don't think I'll ever know. Yes, it's cheaper than Air Conditioning, but it's also absolutely useless when you need it most.

Seeing as he lives in Arizona though, just about the only place you could live in the United States to beat isahn80 is Death Valley, where the average high temperature in July is 116F, and I'm told that highs in excess of 120F. Wikipedia reports that the highest temperature ever recorded in the United States was in Death Valley, at 134F on July 10, 1913. This is the second highest temperature ever recorded in the world; it's beaten out narrowly by Al Aziziyah, Libya's 136F on September 13, 1922. Har.

No, that's what's hot.

I can take dry heat, like Arizona, but wet heat where humidity is at 75%+ daily is worse than 110+. It makes it extremely difficult to breathe when you have 75% humidity (more often closer to 90%) and are hitting over 95 degrees. Humidity is what sucks the most in summer, not the heat. To further add to this, we visited San Antonio during a heat wave that was also during a low pressure front. Essentially, instead of having the low humidity and high temperatures, it was both high humidity (again, 75+%) and was hitting the century mark. There was a very large number of instances of heat stroke that week. It was a pity too, because I really liked the area and going outside, it was just way too hot and humid to do so.
