There's nothing like...

...discovering you can order your team around in Unreal Tournament 2004 - after completing the single player CTF tournament. >_<

...realizing most teams in UT2004 single player end up being free agents. I challenged the other teams in instagib matches for crappy teammates when their extra-powerful captains were already free for the taking without having to fight for 'em. That, I learned right before attempting the final Assault map for the second time. >_>

...finding out UT2004 has a voice recognition command. I learned of that nifty feature after completing the entire single player campaign. <_>

...thinking twice about it and instead of not bothering to RTFM because you don't have one, go out of your way to download one or something next time. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

Let's just say my UT2004 experience was harder than necessary. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

I have the same sorts of problems with lots of different games. I try to read the instruction manuals more often now.

"I can build more than one unit at the same time?"

Hee, UT2004 does indeed have pretty decent AI ordering systems to it. I've not bothered with singleplayer mode yet as I just keep doing the custom matches with the RPG mod. Nothing quite like Flak Cannons blazing from all involved at 1000% speed bonus.

I almost never read the manuals. It takes away a bit of the fun of discovering how the game works IMO. Not to mention that if you've managed to do fairly well without some key features - then it'll make you an even better player when you start to impliment those features.

Sure gets easier to manage my team in CTF games instead of using the clunky order menu. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

"Team, take their flag. Bravo, defend the flag."

"Roger, blue leader!"

Day-um, I love technology!
