european pal codes

i really want to trade with some people in ameria, is it the meory cards that have the codes or the gamecubes. ie if i wanted to trade offline with them would i have to have an american gamecube or an american memory card. cos i heard if you try to load char onto an ameriacn version of whatever it might get currupted or something please help

Let me try to get this straight, you are trying to organize a memory-card trade between an American and European? If so, that may pose some difficulties. European Gamecubes are unable to read US memory save files and vice versa. Your best bet would just be to go online and conduct the trade.

he wouldnt even be able to trade with an american online at the moment anyway since the US GC server is down.
