This is probably realy obvious question and someone will probably just give me a link but using the PS2's usb port can you plug in a keyboard (that I know works for gaming systems) and be able to use the keyboard for complete control as if you were on a computer?

Yes and maybe.

Yes, you can plug a USB port into a PS2. USB devices are very standardized, which is why they're basically plug-and-play.

The ability to play on a game with a keyboard and mouse is dependant on the game's ability to handle it. If it's not coded with keyboard support, it's not going to work the way you want it to. You still might be able to get a jerryrig of something, though.
