They keep saying in interviews and things that PSU will be a whole different new gaming experience. Honestly it just looks like an improved PSO (Which is a good thing) But can someone tell me how this will be imensly different?

are you referring to the online portions or the single player?

If you are referring to the whole package than I think that the single player alone is a night and day difference from PSO, online though, PSU is basically a direct sequel in gameplay to PSO with minor changes like ability to change from hunter to ranger if you want and I think it is more quest based than a free form dungeon crawler. Other changes are the ability to run and gun, and go into First Person with ranged weapons. There are also other slight difference here and there, but the online is basically just a much improved PSO.

but the online game itself is pretty much the same. That's good. Reassurement that it will be good because PSO was good

There's been a few changes to the gameplay that should be noted though:

-Strong Attack and Special Attack are gone, and replaced with the new (and much cooler) Photon Arts. Depending on your weapon, you can either assign Skills (melee weapons), Bullets (guns), or Technics (magic).

-All weapons now have a PP gauge, which replaces the TP system in PSO. So now the ability to use magic, etc. is from your weapon. On the plus side, all weapons regenerate PP over time which is cool.

-Ranger weapons deplete PP whenever a shot is fired. Also, Technics can only be cast with a Force weapon, and around 2-4 Technics can be assigned to a single weapon depending on type (Canes can have 2, Staffs can have 4).

-There's 1st person aim mode that allows you to manually aim and target enemies (although you can't move while using it). You can also Strafe around enemies by holding down a button to lock on, and move left and right.

-There's now different "brands" of weapons that you can buy from different stores. They have different styles and looks, as well as different stats.

-There's clothing stores where you can buy new clothing and accessories for your character.

-You can have up to 6 players per party.

-Just announced is the Expert Class option, which allows you to join 2 jobs together and use weapons and skills from two seperate jobs simultaneously.

That's all I can think of for now. Just know that the game is going to kick all worlds of azz when it comes out http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

- beasts are selectable as a new race

- All classes are open to all race/gender combinations

- Nanoblasts and SUV weapon special attacks

- No mags, but the replacement, "partner machinery" are used to construct player crafted items -- once leveled your PM can join you in battle as a teammate(!)

- 20 new areas, 14 new bosses, droves of new enemies and (finally) for the first time in 5 years... no more jogging through Forest 1

Well people have already said that there's no longer a weak and hard attack. Now there's just "attack" and a new function for Photon arts.

You can't just drop down onto planets to roam. Every game you join or make will be counted as a mission, though the concept of missions is alittle more broad now.

Areas have rest stops at the end of them, such as the Onsen in Mizuraki, where players can gather after defeating a mission and regroup to take on another challenge, or just relax and socialize.

But generally is the play style is going to be similar to PSO? of course it is, because it's the same genre of game, an action online RPG. It's not going to all of a sudden become a fps. (Though now with the subjective viewpoint you could almost pretend it was... cept you couldnt move...)

Well there is a diffrence with Ep3 because its a card game XD but look wise it still looks like PSO Ep1&2

Do you mean like does PSU seem like an action game where you run around and attack like mad with no combo limit? Or do you mean does it have the same basic game play PSO had with the 3 hit like combo system?

as a side note, guns are no longer have combos, you now can shoot them continually. It's something like an action RPG.

so every game is a mission now not just like ex. Ruin Run. Every game you do you will be accomplishing a mission and gaining a reward. That's cool. Does that mean u have to join before the mission starts?

Take the word "mission" with a grain of salt here.

The objective may just be to defeat the boss, or there may be multiple objectives to acomplish. But yes, now everything is a mission.

At the end of each run, you will be awarded a Rank depending on how well you did, and according to this rank you will be awarded a certain amount of meseta and job exp. as a reward.
The worse you do, the less cash and job exp. you get.

*EDIT*
I forgot to mention. You can join mid-mission now.

Its not really like "Joining a game" any more. Its more something like select a misson in the lobby then find others to do it with you, send them a join party request, then just walk out the town/lobby gate and appear in the battle field with whoever you teamed up with.

Or you can walk through the gate and see whos already out on a mission and decide to join with them.

Very different from pso. They are actually trying to make it feel like a persistant world.

Well... You can organize a clan... Such as a group of members and set conditions to make them recognized as part of your clan I'd guess, but there's not actual clan system in the game just in case you didn't know about that.
