I am having some trouble diciding which platform I will be purchasing psu for. I hear pc has a quick cast system. Like with the keybored and whatnot. However, i have never played an mmo on these consoles (PS2, 360). Is it more dependable?

which plateform will you play it on?

PC for the US version. PS2 for the import.

PS2 is the most affordable, friendly, comfortable, and the most likely to be linked to at least one other system (most likely the PC) for a larger online community.

PS2 supports keyboard like the other systems, so if this game allows shortcut macros, you can do it with the PS2 version also (just like FF11).

this game is made with the PS2 is mind, so it already looks beautiful as it is. PC and Xbox360 can enhance the visuals a tiny bit, but ya they will all look and run great.

the PC is sketchy though because depending on your hardware, it could run better or worse than the other systems.

and if you prefer text chat or voice chat, Xbox360 is the best system for voice chat features. unless you invest a lot of money on PC to get all the bells and whistles and adapters for the comfort you get with consoles.

so ya you can look at it this way in this easy to understand graph I made meself. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

PS2 = friendly

Xbox360 = chatterbox

PC = money muncher

PS2 because I don't want a xbox 360 and my computer is unfortunatly a Mac. I think I would probably want to play it on a console anyways though because for some reason it feels more natural to me to play games like this on them.

Thanks a lot, saner. So voice chat for PS2?

Zinsian

i really wish 360 had better support for keyboards though, for sending messages, because it takes forever to send one sentence to a friend. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_cry.gif

PC. PC for the import until I switch to PC for the US.

To the OP, one system choice will not be more dependable than the other. It will be what's best for you. You will want a keyboard for ease of communication and the function keys, but also a controller. If you choose PS2, you'll be able to plug in a USB keyboard. If you choose PC, you'll want to get a USB controller (though it wont be necessary, just ideal imho). Then there's the vaiables only you can answer: can your PC handle the requirements, can your PS2 go online or is it simply easier to use the PC, where are your RL friends going to play (PC/PS2 will be connected but its unknown if the 360 will be able to connect to them).

PS3 may introduce a voice chat peripheral. I dont see why not. Its in fact likely, if there isnt one already. PS2 does not have voice chat and wont for PSU. If you want/need voice chat go PC (and use TeamSpeak or somesuch) or 360.

Yeah. PSU does not have built-in voice chat support. PC actually is the safest choice if you want voice chat as an option (not why I am choosing PC though).

Fear not. Its nothing to do with systems. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif I have imported a lot over the years, so for a while had both a US and JP PS2 until I sold my US PS2 a few months ago in preparation for PS3. I had no need for it.

Its also more convenient for me to put PSU on my computer and go online from there (have the keyboard there, the USB controller already), but mostly its simply a case of I do not have a US PS2 at the moment and wont get a PS3 until spring.

Then again, there's a coming update for the Xbox 360 Dashboard, where you can have private chat up to 8 people. With that in mind the 360 Private Chats and PSU are on 2 different servers. SEGA's server and the Xbox Live Server. Im 100% sure they'll both run smooth together since this applied to anyother 360 game. For example, in Battlefield 2, me and a friend didnt really want to hear the random chatter ingame. So with Private chat, we could talk to each other on a seperate talk server 1 on 1 and still stay in the game. Just a heads up to the people who dont own a 360 yet. And with the 8person update, this will surely work out for 360 PSU teams. 6 person on a team, and a 8 person limit for talking in Private chat, works out fine if you ask me.

360 will have usb KB support as well as voice chat, u just need to get a usb connection KB for 20 bucks if u dont have 1 already, n there used to be quite a few ppl who only use kb or kb + mic(for listening only) on xbox pso, so i doubt why it won't on 360 PSU,

Live is $50 a year lol. And if you dont want to pay $50 a year for Xbox Live Gold , then get Xbox Live Silver. Its free. you cant play anything else online, BUT MMORPGs. You can still have access to your worldwide stats, friends and recent players list, Xbox Live Marketplace (hey 75% of the things on Xbox live market place are free. Videos too), private chatting and other stuff i cant name right now. If you want a keyboard, they are supported for chatting, its just that in game play is prohibbited with keyboards.So either way same deal. But id go for the $50 a year for Xbox Live Gold. anyone who's never tried wont reallly understand, just cause you went to their site and checked what Live can do.

PS2 for me, simply because I already have a network adaptor (i got me an old-school ps2) and a USB keyboard for it, and it's the system that PSU was designed for. The gamepad support in blue burst was pathetic, and I want to be sure that my controller works 100% with PSU. I like the idea of being able to play offline story mode even when my internet cuts out. Also, I like the idea of being able to bring my copy of PSU over to a friend's house and play online on my account from there. Of course this should still be possible with the PC version but it's more of a hassle since I'd need to install it. It should make it much easier to convince friends to get the game and play it with me if they can actually sample character creation and online play on my account without having to come to my house. I'll probably get the PC version eventually as well so that I can play it pretty much anywhere I go, but even then I'll likely still stick with the PS2 version unless it runs significantly better on my PC.

I wonder if the ps2 will have 50 Htz support, I remember the original dreamcast had a 50 Htz and 60 Htz option but 50 HTz would only allow you into the EU server while 60 Htz you could go onto any server you pleased.

Not if you know what you're doing http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif My pc runs for months at a time continually doing something with no problems of any kind and my server has run for over a year straight with no issues.

Last time my PC crashed from a game was... >_> when I had 512 ram lol after that my games don't crash. One exception though: Oblivion O_x even though it runs and looks great it crashes when I close it lol bizarre http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif I do admit PCs are somewhat more unstable (and I'm talking in the case where you meet and exceed the mininum requirements) due to the difference in computers and how developers have to code with that in mind. Otherwise I just like my PC http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif Plus if I want to play with my sis here at home, I need to leave the PS2 as an option for her http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I don't have a PS2 or a 360, so I'm buying an XBox 360 controller to hook up to my PC. (If my PC has the requirements to play it.)
