What about this splicing the cords of a GC extension cord with another keyboard? Does anyone have any info on that?

I don't think anybody has ever tried it. Some people say that it will fry your cube. But, with nobody actually trying it, who knows.

Has anyone tried this?

I didnt, and wont. I didnt have a KB when I first got PSO, so I am used to it. If few people have the KB then we will all get by.
We'll have a keyboard. Remeber Sega said there would be one at the launch. By a third party of course.

Hopefully there's more than one reason for the 30 day HL trial.

amen to that, but ive talked to some of the guys at babages and software etc and they say there is no US keyboard comming and no plans in sight..if they made a plan to release one right now it would still take at least 2 months before there plans were set into action

Will the spliced keyboard mess up my GC?

Currently, there are no plans to release a GameCube-compatible keyboard in the US. Please check http://www.nintendo.com for updated information about keyboard availability.'
remember now, they said currently there are no plans for a keyboard to be released, that doesnt mean that they will never come out with one. just keep that in mind.
btw, does anyone know for sure that an imported keyboard will work with the US version of the game and on a US cube? just curious. only answer this if you have tested it yourself.

All hardwares are universal. My GC and PSO disk is Japanese, but memory card, AV-Cable, and electricity is domestic. And they work just fine.

I was going to try to splice a keyboard, but that whole "it'll fry your gamecube" warning kinda threw me off.

Tip for everyone: If you don't know what you're doing, don't try it.
I'm guessing that none of you (unless stated otherwise) have much of an electronics background or know how the GameCube hardware works, so, I don't mean to sound nasty about this, but, wouldn't connecting wires of incompatiable interfaces be kinda dumb?
Now you know.

Import a keyboard is the only solution really for NOW. When I say FOR NOW, I mean think about it, with the PS2 and X-BOX on-line plans in full swing, keyboards, headsets, etc., you really think Nintendo would really not realease a keyboard, or a third-party developer? Hmmm. My answer would be most likely in the near future one will be released, so in the meantime, slow conversations are-a-rolling.

My friend who is the Manager of an EB here talked to his Nintendo rep who said that Agetec is bringing the kb here in less than a month. Best info I could find.
