Okay, well I need a few things confirmed and a few things answered.

Okay, well first off, I think I recall hearing you can use the same account on different platforms... is this true? I really hope it is because I'm getting the PS2 version until I can get a less crappy computer... then I'm buying a PC copy of PSU and switching. I'd like to keep my characters when I switch.

Also, PS2 slim has an adaptor built in, right? I just needed to know when I use it to go online in PSU if I have to pay the fee for my Sega Link account AND to go online with the adpator. In other words, is there a fee to use the online adaptor? I already know there's a fee to play PSU.

One last question... Where can I buy a keyboard for my PS2?

Thanks for your help. ;0

if PS2 is linked to PC like they said, then ya you can use your characters on the other system, since they are saved server side. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

the Slim PS2 already has a network connection inside the system itself. just plug in ethernet cable from the system to the modem and that's it. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif
(oh right, the slim PS2 has a configuration disc I think in the same bag as the system instruction manual. I think. you'll need that to configure your connections, which is pretty straightforward unless your ISP service is complex)

PS2 is not Xbox. there is no such thing as "PS2 Live" to play online, each game is either free, or you have to pay the game's fee to use their server (like FF11).

so just pay PSU's fee, and your internet ISP (like Optimum Online)

gamestop and EB might sell the Powerboard, a really reliable usb keyboard for about 12 bucks. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Yes to the first one. PS2 and PC servers are linked, so you can start on the PS2 and pick up the same account on the PC later.

Yes, the slim PS2 has the built-in ethernet adaptor. You dont have to pay to use it. You use your current internet connection at no additional fee for a game account through SONY if that is what you mean. You will need the SEGA Link account of course.

Any USB keyboard is going to work. It wont necessarily need to be a PS2 branded thing. I'd in fact avoid that and just get a USB keyboard from somewhere.

If this were a western, I'd be shot dead in the street. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif Slow on the draw it seems.

well Sega Link switched to another service. forgot what it was called. anyways, the PSU game itself will have options to sign up for the account straight through the game itself.

so I think I would wait for the PSU U.S. release because Sega of America might handle server accounts differently.

so even if you sign up now at the Japanese account servers, you might have to make a new account depending on how things are handled over here.

because remember the regions are unlinked for this game.

I believe it is SIGN.

ya, SIGN might be the account for the Japanese server.

I don't think Sega of America will use the same company for the U.S. region servers.

this is why if you are getting the U.S. version, I would patiently wait to see if a different division handles the accounts over here, since we are going to be in servers different from Japan.

but you know it's possible U.S. might use SIGN also. much like FF11 uses PlayOnline. but lets wait and see. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Im just saying this because sometimes people who go ahead and make an account with them, sometimes end up having to make a new account if the service is handled differently between different regions.

besides SIGN, as far as I know, is completely Japanese, so I don't think it's intended for U.S. players unless Sega says otherwise later on.

right now they are focusing on the Japanese release. So when our turn comes up, they'll let us know the process. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif
