View Full Version : PSO release a bit of a mess

First the fact that American's will have no keyboard, with no current plans of developement. Now the high probability of the servers being segregated due to a game defect. The release of this game has been a botched job, and the American version isn't even out yet.

They have said they're going to release a fixed version of the Japonese game, meanwhile they're still selling the defective one.

I can live with not having a domestic keyboard released for a few weeks [month/months?], but being segregated from friends isn't cool. Thats 90 percent of the reason I play this game.

Not a job well done. Kind of typical of Sega.

I heard from my friend who is the manager of an EB Gameworld that the keyboard is coming from Agetec in 2-3 weeks.

I agree. How can ST talk about a fix version for jp, and release the US version a month later fixed with no word or release date for the new jp version? It makes no sense to me.

Simple. Sonic Team knew about the duping bug, and released the game anyway. They waived it probably figuring that nobody would find it, and they could quietly fix the US version and release a running revision for Japan.

As for the delay in the Japanese version, that's a different story. If I had to guess, I'd say they're working on what to do about the people who have already bought it, and have invested alot on charatcers and whatnot. The absolute last thing Sega and Sonic Team can afford right now is to piss off the early adopter/hard core fan segment (well, anymore than they've already pissed people off by releasing a bugged version of the game).

Oh god, stop bitching, <Everyone.

If you don't like the game, or sega, don't buy it.

If you do, stop bitching. Really.

Hmmm.... Someone on another board said he spoke to someone that works at a EB or something who said that one will be out on the 13th of November.

If you have called certain EB's yesterday and maybe today, some of them will tell you that there's something about a keyboard release slated for November. Keep checking, I'm not sure how reliable their computers are.

Just wait until everyone starts logging in for the first time and the Hunters License ordering system goes down ^_^

Didn't they already say the fixed JP version would be on new servers? More than likely those new servers are the same ones as the US servers. Rather than let bugged-JP and US mingle at the start they went ahead and started up the new ones, which the fixed JP version will then use. Occam's razor, yo. No conspiracy theory for me ;)

I never said I didn't like the game. I said the release is a mess. And it is. Hence, legitimate reason for a complaint. Especially considering I'm spending pretty good money to use their servers. I'm not the type to put up or shut up.

maybe you misunderstand, i think that dg isn't really bitching, it's a fair discussion and dg has valid points.

... Seems like the BBA is in fact in short supply in the Us, with no re-supply scheduled anytime soon.
Better grab yours asap.

besides the fact of the pso release being a big mess, nintendo just has everyting messed up. like dg said about no kb, and theres also no other peripherals or games. does nintendo even think another online game will succeed if there if are any? the whole thing is just one botch job, though they did pick a great game to try and make a debut with. im excited, but its still really sad.

wasnt teamwork and communication sort the premis of succes for pso v1 & v2? not to mention they go hand in hand..so without a keyboard it could quite possibly turn a vivid, talkative community into a failing mute society untill a keyboard is released. with all the deylays and lack of suppy this is probly segas worst release ever, its a shame it had to be one of the most anticipated games of the last few years they managed to skrew over

Well, don't get me wrong, I'll still love the game I'm sure. No keyboard will be solved sooner or later I'm sure. What really got my bloodpressure up is I wont be able to play with a good friend that imported. Shes even more stubborn than I am, and wont buy the domestic. Plus I knew a lot of people who played on the Japonese servers. They're not very thrilled about server segregation either.

Ah well, I'll take what we get.

One thing nintendo did right:

Wavebird.

Nuff said.

Wavebird keyboard? OMFG that would pwnz.

Now THAT would be the day. Nintendo would /NEVER/ do it... but I wouldn't be surprised if someone took a RF transmitter and hooked it up to a normal GCN keyboard. Wouldn't be hard to do.

JP and us servers are separated? That's bunk. Although I don't know what kind of impact it'll have; I only played with a japanese guy once and it felt like ICO...

Kaoru: (something in kanji)
DangerBoy: What?!

Is this forever? I wonder if this means each region will be separated...

*EDIT*
The abbreviation for Japan or Japanese is JP.

Yes, if you like something, you shouldn't ever say anything critical about it. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif

Well Nintendo is definetly not trying to be number 1 in the on-line battle with the other 2 giants. One game, no keyboard, a pay-to-play game? It's worth it to me but, all that scares ppl for sure. Myself if not having being a PSO freak when it was released all way to ver2 and playing the heck outta that, PSO does rule, but if not being the huge fan of PSO i prolly wouldnt even look twice at Gamecubes on-line plans. In short it's kind of a joke, but like my man above said they certainly did pick a fine game to debut. Peace.

It is the price for getting PSO to the US so early they did want to nmake you wait untill christmas you know but now it is earlier you will have a few tething problems but by christmas it will be sorted. and by the EU release everything will be fine unless the code breakers reck it http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

ST had to almost rape Nintendo so they would release hardware to support PSO.
They don't give a damn about online play.
Nintendo always the technologically retarded. (remember the cartridge-based 64 bit console ?)

Rumina
10-30-2002, 03:33 AM
hmm.. didnt think about it that way. nintendo IS always the underdog in being "up to date". theyre to busy with all these new projects to not see what will sell. they just dont understand the pso fanbase. with going online, they could make a killing... if they would have thought about this more.
