SEGA direct (http://segadirect.jp/Catalog/CustomPages/CustomDetail2.aspx?File=psu.htm#fi)

To be released in Japan on September 30, 2006, for 6,000 yen is the PSU Figure Collection 1 Box. Five of the game's main characters will be detailed in this boxset: Ethan Waber, Karen Erra, Mirei Mikuna, Alfort Tylor and Renvolt Magashi. There will be two versions of each figure -- one original paintjob and another with a custom job. The site description mentions that certain details like weapon photon colors will be changed for the custom figures. So far, there are no pictures of the actual figures, but it's mentioned that their poses will be designed after the character artwork we've seen in promotional materials. (The site actually links to some artwork of each character for reference of what to expect.) The figures will range in size from 110mm to 140mm and come with display stands.

Aaaaaand yet more merchandise that will never make it to the United States. Oh well, I'm getting used to this whole "Japan gets the cool stuff" situation now.

Anyways, thanks for keeping us informed, EspioKaos. I'm not sure how many people would want to buy figures that cost as much as the game itself, though...

Man...if Sega's looking to take all my money, they're doing a darn good job of it. I'd personally love to collect these figure sets.

noooo there goese my money again. back to the beast i call figurines. there are plenty of ways to obtain figurines. i suggest comic book shops, anime shops and other sites that link directly to importing things from japan. of coarse though like it was stated earlier ebay is your friend.

This is a slight update, but as I was browsing a PSU JP Imageboard I frequent, I ran into this:

If anything, these figures look well damned detailed to me. Now, if I could only get my hands on them... >_>

[Edited, so it wouldn't screw up forum tables.]

OK? They're pretty well done, actually. Way better than the standard of most figurines you see floating around that look like total crap.

Yeah they are pretty good representations but then again I'd prefer to have one of my custom character!

.......

Now that I've seen a high resolution version of them, I'm no longer interested in the figurines. Mirei looks fine, but Ethan and Karen look like they got smacked around with the ugly stick a bit. The appearance isn't consistent with the artwork. Guess I'll be sticking with my Street Fighter Alpha figurines yet longer.

Heh, thanks for the pic update.

Unforuntately the first/second sets from yujin for PSO were something like this too. The Mirei does look awesome though, but who knows. Sometimes in person due to varying quality of every set/figure, it might be a lot better looking.

More merch items announced, luckily probably less expensive than the figures, didn't want to make a new thread though: http://psupedia.org/index.php?title=News

..ehh...I'd be more interested in figures of the enemy/monster characters, including bosses.

PSO figures?! How did I miss that? I always thought Sega would make some easy money off figures from the Phantasy Star universe...from PSO to now, at least. I want Gran Sorcerors, Gaozorans(my favorite enemy in this game), Kamatoze, Delsabers, Sinow Beats, Hildetorrs, I'd buy all that stuff with the quickness.

I want a toy pannon figure.

Oh yeah, I loved the last set of PSO toys I got. A friend who was stationed in Japan went and got me the entire set of little PSO figures that came out of those legendary japanese vending machines. The even came with their own set of microscopic sized mags!
