Given the uniqueness of this game's character system, this may not have a perfect answer (since its very possible to be self sufficient)...but I'm curious about others thoughts on this matter below:

In a 6 party setup, online, what would your perfect party consist of? Include race and class (or expert class combo) that you feel would benefit each other the most in a team PvE run (not PvP since there's not any when the game first releases).....

I'm guessing two of each? One newman is specifically a buffer and the other is nuker. A human hunter and a beast hunter. and Two casts.

whatever the players want to play as, thats my opinion.

I don't think a game like this calls for the need of an "ideal" party setup. But I do think that a FO will be needed no matter what the setup is.

yeah, guess thats true, but there is a pretty high chance of that with as much as 6 guys on your team.

I think that ST should enable missions and quests that pretty much might require you to have specific party set ups for rare equipment.

I have another question. Is PSU going to have Rare/Exclusive equipment/weapons that only that specific player can wear/use?

my ideal party would have two hunters, up close hacking and slashing. one would have to be a beast the other cant be a newman. then mid range three, thats right three rangers shooting the hell out of the mob, and doing extra damage when enemies go air born. i would like to have all rangers humans and cast. i would be located here http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif. then in the back away from the fray a single newman force handling support and damage control. also nuking the crap out of the enemies. thats six right...1..2..3..

my party would move swiftly and keep a stream of damage hammering down on our foes.

yeah, http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif good times in the making.

As long as there's at least 1 of each class, it's all gravy for me.

there shouldn't be any ideal party requirements. otherwise people will have to spend more time getting a party together.

freedom leads to more fun.

6 FOnewearls

if the mission is too hard for the low-defense FOnewearls to survive, then change that to 1 HUbeast and 5 FOnewearls.

but for the most part, i dont really care what chars are in my party. however, i would like one other force (besides myself) in the party, b/c one force having to heal/buff 5 ppl is a little overwhelming.

Party on, dudes! XD

It shouldn't matter who (or what) your party is made up of; if everyone involved is a competent player, then there should be minimal problems with so-called "unbalanced" parties...

lol ya its great there is no such thing as unbalanced parties in online Phantasy Star games http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

people are not as weak and dependant like the people in FF11. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

That's why you pick up Ninja, Thief, Black Mage, or Beastmaster. Those were the only jobs that could hold their own against pretty much all odds.

I believe that party will be manditory with certain set ups later in the game but there won't be an ideal set up for the most part. A manaburn PT aka Newman would definately benefit more than most.

Hey Inuzuma, from the import threads it really sounds like thats gonna be the basic team setup from PSOworld importers.

All Newman forces - and I'm you're Hubeast ^_^

what-everrrr! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

even those jobs can't survive on their own for long.

soloing would take forever and they even can't defeat a train of even six Tough monsters on their own. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

and the poor turn-based battle system doesn't help those jobs either. if FF11 had PSU or even PSO's battle system ya those jobs would have no problem on their own even against ITs.

but as it is, they are weak and helpless against the strongest enemies and groups of very tough mobs, even at lv. 75. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

Don't let this turn into FFXI. Being exclusive to certain races perceived as outside their specified class will ruin this game. I'm planning to be a Newman Hunter right out of the box and will cap a fool for trying to weed me out because I'm not a Beast. Domes will be cracked. Believe it.

Ya! You tell 'em, Milk! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

ya don't worry the system and the freedom of the game will encourage party leaders to tolerate any class combination.

Jerks are in all online games, but ya online there will be plenty of other alternative parties to join.

We won't need to put up with party leaders that are too closed-minded to accept HUnewms, FObeas, etc. etc.

if such a situation occurs, it's best to just leave them and find a party that appreciates any combination. or form a party oneself. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Only blm could survive a mob by themselves. Sleepga II and they could pick out individuals. Everyone else would just die. Cept thief of course. Macro switch boots, flee, perfect dodge, logout. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Sad that even a train of Easy Prey could take out most jobs.

Even PSO was a pain in the ass on ultimate. I was in the sea lab with my HU at lvl 168 and had a rough time. That place was BS. My FOmar had such an easier time and he was only lvl 144.

Olga Flowen was so BS tho. Dark Falz had nothing on him.

Mages make all games easier.

lol well Dark Falz's final form was a pain. but ya Flow was tough.

I didn't hack or dupe in PSO and still found him quite beatable without much of a problem. Don't get me wrong, one hit kills were annoying as all hell, but Flow was just an ass in every form.

Hehe, I actually wanna party with the lots of you guys now when the game comes out =x

6 FOcasts.

But, seriously, I think I'll have more fun playing specifically with the people playing the "odd" gender/race/class combos, because these people tend to have more imagination, or are RPers, or are people that I find just plain cooler. I myself want to be a RAbeast. (Though that is definitely much less "gimped" in the eyes of a perfectionist player than, say, a FOcast. Funny, I'm a perfectionist player myself when it comes to offline games, but in online games I let fun and RPing take point)

Though I have to admit, I'd like to see this party in action some time:
HUbeast
HUcaseal
RAcast
RAbeast
2 FOnewearls
