it's not that anyone hates NPC to let them get killed, it's just a PS tradition to have a female character get killed to make the story interesting. lol dont kill maya... hhmmm that does bring up a good point though. it is true that usually a female role does die to advance the plot in rpgs but there are some cases when they dont. its still to early to say but im sure well find out in due time from the people who get the japanese version of the game and go thru the offline first to see what it holds.

It's fun what you can do with Dev and beta kits on a game. Note: Half Life 2, Gary's Mod.

Basically, a bunch of NPCs lined up to do an Alt + P (let's call it that for now) in formation. Basic coding when it comes to making complex games...

A main character's death, Darum & his daughter, the most populated (and popular) planet being obliterated, the great collapse killing the survivors sending their fractured society back to the dark ages, the end of earth's civilization, and at the end of the day - you're not even sure if your own goddamned party survived.

Now that's epically tragic. Of course, it wouldn't leave much left for an online world to inhabit - but things can be scalled down a bit.

Well if I recall something about Karen's info, it's that she has terrible trauma from seeing her family killed, if I recall. That could explain also why she looks unconcious, and Ethan is calling out to her.

It's probably that I didn't play the games when they came out (hooray for the GBA collection), but the ending was the only thing that really tugged at my heartstrings. The Darum & Daughter sequence in particular completely backfired on me. I mean, this is how I perceived it:

(fine fine, spoiler warning)

Darum: I'm killing people for their money to save my daughter!
Rolf: *saves daughter*
Daughter: I'm going to approach my unstable and violent father with a bag over my head so he can't recognize me!
Darum: *whack*
Daughter: You're cutting my flesh with your weapon! *dies*
Darum: This is my daughter! Oh no! *self-destructs*
Rolf: Glad that's out of the way. Onward! *walks over the remains*

Okay, so that last part was more me than Rolf. I remember early PS2 to be incredibly frustrating, and I was relieved to have a new area to level grind in.

Interesting commercials. My two cents on Karen: personally, I'd say that she's just been rendered unconscious. Remember, this is Ethan we're talking about. He was surprised to experience Resta for the first time. Considering how much his reactions scale up, he'd probably react as if someone had died if you just knocked them out. And Light help us if anyone actually dies.
