Hi

I've been looking through the PSU section as was wondering if anyone could confirm weather or not you need to have an internet connection to play PSU offline on the PC?

Thanks

ya there is an offline 40+ hour story mode

and extra offline mode where you can make your own character and develop them similiar to online play, yet singleplayer.

PC requires online connection even when playing offline.

PS2 will not require online connection to play offline. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

they don't know if Xbox360 needs to be online even when playing offline, but it's possible.

What?? So you have to be online to play the offline mode, that doesn't make sence. Is this becuase you sega saves the character data server side? Does this mean that you have to buy a hunter liences to play offline?

Thanks

The PC version of the game uses GameGuard (even for offline play). You have to be online in order to use GameGuard. We're assuming that offline PC characters will be stored locally.

I think it will be like Half-Life. that you only need to have internet to start the game, after that you can most likely turn interentet off again. but not sure as the game not out.

the PS2 version will not need online connection at all to play online.

an interview stated online is not a factor for the PS2 version in order to access the offline modes.

but if you play on PC and dont have online connection, then ya you're screwed because of gameguard.

Security reasons.

for security purposes. They wanna block out hackers with a giant wall but will all the effort be in vain? what if they get in, what then? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

What they should do is have a good gamemaster and monitors or people that track down hackers, study their inventory and proof of their duping/altering, witnesses, and ban them from the game.

if they do security work like that they can avoid taking measures like gameguard to keep them out, because more than likely hackers will find a way through anyway.

Look at WoW, Blizzard takes action, they don't simply forge a wall that tries to filter good from bad. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

Gameguard has a bad rep, from what I've heard.....there must be a contract between nProtect (I think that's the company) and SEGA as to why they keep insisting on using this hole of a security program.

Heh, Blizz takes actions by ignoring their own ppl when they bring up legit issues to them....oh and Blizz loves lore, lets not forget...its all about the LORE http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif /sarcasm off

Does this mean that you have to buy a hunter's licence to play offline?

I don't know for sure, but my guess is that to play offline you'll need an internet connection but you won't need to buy a hunters license. The only reason I think this is because it would be ridiculous if you needed to pay fees just to play the single player game. You don't need a hunters license to play offline in the PS2 version, you shouldn't have to for the PC version either.

No, you won't need to buy a Guardians' License to play offline. You only need an active internet connection.

OK, I what to use PSU on my laptop and it doesn't have a connect at the moment. It means I'll have to sit with a great long wire pluged into the wall the hole time!!

Hackers will find a way around that so you can play singelplayer whit no internet. they did it to Half-Life 2.

really????? could it be true that hacking can be used as a positive thing like playing the singleplayer without online connection? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

Yes, If you'll recall, I said the same thing in the PLAY article topic a few weeks back.

Yes. It's not true at all that hacking is always malicious. And any hacking that circumvents the evil that is Steam is not only not bad, it's God's work.
