Sega Internet Games Navi (http://seganavi.jp/) website has now gone live.

While there is no payment systems up for any game, they will be up on the 31st (Since PSU is the first scheduled game to make use of the system).

As a reminder, your SegaLink acount will be chained to SIGN, so anyone looking to make use of SIGN services will need to register for a SegaLink account. All previous SL accounts have automatically been brought over.

Interesting, I'm still not sure if I'll try getting online in the import version, will probably depend on payment options.

Yeah my online days of JP PSU are resting on payment method. Otherwise I just hope some importers will stock game time cards.

could somebody fill me in on what this site is about? and do they switch your bb account to this sign account?

SIGN works with Sega Link, Its a japanese only games portal. Kind of similar to SE's Playonline service. If you have a JP BB account that you used, when signing up with Sega Link, it will transfer your details over to SIGN. But if your BB account is US/EU then I'm afriad the first steps to playing JP PSU online, will be to create an account either via SIGN, or Sega Link. The is a guide of how to do so on here somewhere. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

if SIGN is Japan only. what will be the U.S. equivalent? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/frenchfries.gif http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_ketchup.gif

I believe it'll still run on PlaySega in the US. SIGN is necessary in Japan because Sega runs many more online games there than it does in North America and Europe.

ya that's interesting seeing some other games I didn't think Sega hosts online.

I really wish Sega ran Derby Owners Club Online (http://www.doc-online.jp) in the US.

Anyways, you'd be surprised what companies run what games in other countries.
SquareEnix ran Everquest II in Japan up until recently, and The Belle-Isle in China.
BBGames runs Dark Age of Camelot in Japan.
Gravity runs RO in nearly every country exept Japan, where it's run by GungHo Games.
One thing I've noticed that allows smaller scale online games to thrive in Asia whilst they may suffocate in the US, is the presence of Portals that companies will use. All a company needs is one or two killer applications, and the residual effect will allow them to host all of the older games they want.
Take Sony for example. By have EQ, EQ2, and SWG, they've been able to continue hosting all the old smaller games that not many people play, but help maintain their base.
Game publishing and licensing in Asian nations is a bit more freeform and protective of the developers, so many games can do this without many legal hiccups.

I don't understand why you would want the import version when you can't play on North American servers until the US release.

In every FUCKING thread I see on ANY import game, ANYWHERE there is some yahoo going "WHY DO YOU WANT IT IT NOT AMERICAN? IT IN JAPANESE?"

Because some people would prefer to play with the Japanese than the Yocal HillBillies who SOMEHOW got the Internet.

Sometimes im proud to be British.

I sometimes wish people would just stop riding us importers for doing so.
I'm importing primarily for Offline mode, but I need to see if I'm going to switch to NA release or stick with the JP version.
I already know of a few personal friends and colleagues in Japan that are going to be online from day one.
In general, I've had a much more enjoyable online experience in Japanese online gaming communities (FFXI, Master of Epic, Mabinogi, Yogurting, etc) than in US ones, PSO is actually the only one I've had as much fun playing in either setting. It's like we're all devoid of humor and irony when it comes to gaming sometimes.

today, one of my friends talked w/ a segalink employee. she asked him about SIGN and if it would allow foreign credit cards. he told her, no it wouldnt accept them. and that SIGN works thru segalink, just uses a different template.

uhawww
Aug 11, 2006, 06:58 PM
Net Cash (http://www.net-cash.jp) is a system by which voucher-like cards are exchanged for currency.
On these cards, a set of alpha-numeric characters are written.
When ever you whish to redeem value from the card, you use the code.
This is useful for shopping and redemption online as there aren't nearly as many open banking and debit options in Japan as there are in the US.

oh ya I used a netcash card I bought from EBGames store to pay for Xbox360 gold subscription.

I like netcash cards, they are safer than using credit cards. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif
you just buy one of those cards and you scratch off the back to reveal the code.
