It certainly made me wanna play it. For games with vocal themes like this one, it's practically the norm for one to hear the short version in-game. Of course, there are exceptions to this. Just 22 more days (plus transit time) for us importers.

Great, thanks! Seeing it as the actual opening with the "Press Start" makes me even more impatient to play it lol.

Thing is though, for me, that opening is at best so-so. Graphics etc are great, but its not as magical or spellbinding to me as Ep I&IIs was. Not even close. I used to let that play just to watch it every time I turned the GC on to play. Then there's the classic title screen music itself, just an instrumental. For me even that was better than this opening. Not sure what it is really, it just doesnt do anything for me.

I think the big thing between the openings of the two games is the Story Characters in the opening of PSU, whereas in PSO there were none... there's nothing like making your own character and going out to wreak a little havoc.

Eh, it was pretty good, despite the fact that the singing isn't that great (I know someone's going to disagree with me on this, but whatever...) Is it just me, or would the some of the lyrics actually fit better with PSO ("We've got to save this world")? PSO was more (from what I know) about saving a planet then PSU.

The intro itself is pretty much standard fare for a modern video game - lots of clips taken from FMV footage that looks nothing like the actual game played to dramatic music - not to say it's not nice, though. Also, there are a couple of obvious lightsaber-fighting rip-offs in there (one, very poor-looking, with Ethan and Tylor, and one with Ethan and Magashi).

honestly, the song was pretty dumb. and it didnt really showcase any actual moves like pso's did. in pso's intro i saw a force (i cant remember which force) do a gibarta that looked soo awsome. it made me want to find out if spells like that were obtainable. plus i saw some wierd mags.lol. the intro was average at best.

Yeah well... that's kind of the premise behind Phantasy Star as a whole. The struggle against Dark Falz/Force/PD/TGS/whoever that wants to destory the worlds. In PS, he was trying to escape the seal of the Algol solar system by destorying the planets. In PSO he was trying to find a body and ressurect, using the destruction/absorbtion of all scentient life (except for Rappies, apperantly) to gather the strength needed to escape the planet.

In each instance, he's always been a backdrop though. You have other situations (which he is often the root of) you must deal with before taking him on. In PS it was Lassic's tyranny. In PSII it was Mother Brain. In PSO it was the factioned Government.

I'm sure PSU will also follow suit, even if they don't use Dark Force/Falz/PD as the main boss. SEED and Megashi's Endrum Collective are most likely just pawns of a larger unseen evil. You might not even fight this evil in the offline storyline - where Ethan may end up dealing primarily with the sub-issues like Megashi and you have to tie up his loose ends and defeat the root of the evil in online mode.

So "Save This World" is most likely fitting for the storyline - despite being a bit too chipper and upbeat for my taste in a Phantasy Star theme song considering the series long history of tragedy and bittersweet plots.

back on topic, people should not be discouraged about the PS2 beta disc release being close to the full game release. If people act now, they could be playing a part of PSU as soon as next week while waiting for the full game.
