View Full Version : Phantasy Star IV: Macro List

Does anyone have a link or a list of all the possible Macros in PSIV? Trying to figure some of these out is a real pain. LOL The basic ones are easy to figure out, but, since this is my 2nd playthrough, I'd like to find them all if I can. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I had them all written down... but I lost that sheet. I seem to only have the common macros saved.

Phantasy-Star.net (http://www.phantasy-star.net/psiv/combos.html) is an excellent resource for classic Phantasy Star information.

That is among one of my top searched sites sites when it comes to Phantasy Star information.

OK thanks for the link. I saw something & it says where to get it. But, Im still curious. I heard you get Burst Rocket at the Dezorian (I ignore their bad typos) Weapons Plant. What plant is this? Have I been there? Im presuming Wren gets this & I dont think I have it. I believe I have his other weapons.
The weapons plant is southwest of the Gumbius Temple and Jut, through the ice blocks.

That's not exactly a typo. While the planet was refered to as "Dezolis" in PSIV, it was called "Dezoris" in the original. Maxx, the author of that site, relates back to the original a bit more than to PSIV, and thus, when speaking of a given planet, he's more likely to use the original name, rather than the later names; IE, Palma and Dezoris, rather than Parma and Dezolis.
Personally, I prefer to consider where the name came from to begin with, and use the most appropriate re-Romanization accordingly. Therefore, I'll generally speak of Palma and Dezolis.

1. After typing that, I went back to the game & found the Plant in a few min. I figured it had to be in a place I didn't explore as much. It got me thinking about WHERE it could be, seeing as I forgot to go to Myst Vale (haven been busy with other in-game tasks). I finished both, btw. Since then, I've also beaten the game again (Destruct really helps! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif ).
2. Having played the series from the beginning, I'll always refer to the original names. Stubborn, I know, but, it's how I best know them. Besides, planets just don't so easily change names (or spellings) so I'll stick to what I know. However, when I read the different spellings as shown throughout the series, I have to remind myself of what they are. For example:
Bayamare = Baya Malay (the most annoying tower in PS history)
Dr. Lubetz = Dr. Luveno (man was THAT a change up)
Thanks for all the help, guys. I'd have responded sooner if I could. Can't always get online like I'd like to. Oh, one more thing. According to the macro list I found, there's only 15 possible Macros. Are those the only ones? I'd like more, but, if there aren't, I can accept that. I'm just trying to carefully level & avoid the Lv98-99 bug. Currently, my chars are in the late 50s-early 60s.

Those are all the ones there are.
It's interesting that you find Destruct so useful. I tended to find it less than the sum of its parts, which is actually a problem with a couple of the macros (for example, Silentwave: it does one attack on all targets, but its component parts are Phonon and Airslash, which both attack all targets and whose total damage is generally greater than the damage of Silentwave). In the case of Destruct, not only would Megid + Legeon + BurstRoc generally total more than 999 damage, but Rika could also do something useful to add to that.
And lastly, I tend to call the planets whatever they're called in the game I'm talking about at the time, so I'll say Palma, Palm, or Parma depending if I'm discussing I, II, or IV. Linguistic drift over the millennia, dont'cha know. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Well, Idk if I'd say Destruct is useful as much as it is 'fun'. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif Having done it many times on regular enemies, seeing '999' always puts a smile on my face. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif I'll agree with you that I could be doing other combos or even single moves. I just try to get in as many Destructs as I can at the end of the game. Figuring that I have to usually heal at least 1 or more ppl, I'm left with doing individual attacks of Rayblade or Legeon.
Raja really does make that fight easier. Having him as a main healer & being able to restore TP is something I didn't get to try the first playthrough (I tended to use Gryz the most as I love Motavians!)
Also, you mention Silent Wave. Isn't that usable only on machines? Ive found some things work on bio, some on machines, & some both. One of the best places I've found to level up in is Vahal Fort. Doing Shooting Star, Spark, Negatis, & the like, really gets you quick XP.
I guess what I should ask is: What combos (or single moves) are recommended at end game? This being my second playthrough, I really want to test everything out (instant death moves won't work on a boss, obviously).

Against the Profound Darkness, I suggest PaladinBlow (if you have Hahn as your fifth character) and GrandCross (if you have anyone else). These two combos maximize your party's damage. Please note that GrandCross won't work against the bosses on Rykros, however, since it inflicts Holy damage. ShootingStar can also be handy if you're using Kyra since it does more damage than BurstRoc+Nafoi.
(And don't forget to equip Rika with the Silver Tusk! Although its weakened attack stat is lower than several later claws, its damage bonus against Ghoul-type enemies actually makes it more powerful! Better yet, that bonus carries over to her Doubleslash skill!)

Oh I already beat the game again. I just gotta work on raising levels higher & what not. Ive taken a break from it to work on other games. However, I intend on getting back to it ASAP. When I get a chance, Ill try & check out your vid.
