First thing I said when I saw it was "Okay....This had to be tacked on!" but I mean....How well does it actually work In game?...I've seen videos but that doesn't prove anything...How does it FEEL to work?

you can only stand still and shoot. you can't move in fps mode

Saner
Aug 10, 2006, 01:12 PM
first person targeting is for guns, you can't move while in first person aiming, you can simply move the targeting circle and fire your weapon. This will mostly help for hitting tall or flying enemies.

so it's really not first person shooter since you can't move while in that mode. It's another mode for aiming and firing guns.

Does it work for all Firing weapons? And is it only the larger stronger ones that take PP?

Saner
Aug 10, 2006, 01:42 PM
all guns use up Photon Points no matter what, from what I seen. just like Force technique weapons.

you can switch between like 6 weapons anyways so ammo won't be much of a problem. and if it is, you can buy Photon Point restoring items.

It's all confusing...then again so are photon arts in general and techs...but all will become clear after I play days of PSU playing all I can XP

well ya this game will be very overwhelming at first. So much to learn. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

but there' plenty of time to learn from it from the information we gather from the Japan release. We'll have over a month to study it. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

I heard you can't use fps mode with the shotgun type weapons is that true?

Emrald
Aug 10, 2006, 02:54 PM
I heard that with shotguns and mechguns

Saner
Aug 10, 2006, 02:56 PM
hmmm either the final version will allow them to or maybe those types have a reasonable explanation.

hypersaxon
Aug 10, 2006, 03:19 PM
Yeah in the Weapons section it says that Mechguns and Shotguns have no subjective viewpoint mode. But who the hell uses a scope to fire a Shotgun anyway?

Saner
Aug 10, 2006, 03:21 PM
ya that's the thing! those kinds of weapons wouldn't have scopes. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Emrald
Aug 10, 2006, 03:29 PM
Yeah and machine guns...their not known to be accurate if you just continuesly fire...unless you got strong arms XP

I read something here on the forums that the shotgun has to be cocked after each shot. So, the rate of fire is slow.

Edit: And the projectiles fired increase with your skill with your shotgon.

so its more realistic then. i like the change, it will most likely be stonger because of the slow rate of fire.

Oh that reminds me, In PSU, I haven't found if more than one shotgun bullet can hit the same target within the same shot.

Was it something like, if the monster has more than one target ring on it, then yes, each bullet from one shot could hit one target ring, but not multiple hits on a single target ring.

Yeah, it was Yasminkov 7000V I think.

But Ether was explaining that the shot type weapons in PSO are now called shotguns for PSU.

_EiN_
Aug 10, 2006, 04:51 PM
ah i see. so sre weapons such as the 7000v an addition to the gun catagories in psu?

Kers
Aug 10, 2006, 05:07 PM
well..I haven't seen any rare weapons so there could or could not be another series of rare weapons like the Yasminkov series.

Anyways, view PSOW's weapon overview and other guides in case you haven't.

wat i want to know is ur char standing still while in first person or does he/she look which way ur aiming like if ur lokkin up does ur char look up to

Emrald
Aug 10, 2006, 06:03 PM
It would be in first person so you wouldn't be able to see your character...to find that out you'd have to wait til the game is out and ask someone to watch you and tell you what happens

Arrow203
Aug 10, 2006, 06:20 PM
Hmm that i'm not sure since i didn't see anyone doing that. On the other hand i was using First person to blast mobs away on my RAcast on the closed beta.

Here's what I'd like to know about subjective viewpoint: Does it make your shots perfectly accurate? For example, If my aim is good and my crosshairs are always on the enemy as I'm shooting him, will they automatically hit or does it still depend on my character's accuracy like it would if I was firing normally? If subjective viewpoint does make the shots hit automatically when properly aimed, I'll seriously consider using a RAbeast.

I very much doubt it, but I'd be jumping for joy if it were true.

What I want to know is, can you use subjective viewpoint to aim your spells? I doubt this too, but if true a Force could be a viable class for me.

Phaze37
Aug 10, 2006, 10:56 PM
Subjective viewpoint can't be used for techs. There aren't many techs that fire like a gun anyways. Just Foie, Barta, Gibarta, and Megid (I'm just thinking of PSO techniques here). It would be really interesting if Foie had that ability as a unique property, but I'm just thinking out loud.

so ur sayin no one looked at each other before in the beta

Unless I'm mistaken (which is always a possibility since I wasn't a beta tester), being in subjective viewpoint does not make your shots guaranteed hits. You'll still miss at your normal rate.

As has already been said, there'd be little point in having subjective viewpoint for technics, as only a few spells simply shoot forward in a straight line.

And probably most people in beta were too busy enjoying their short time with the game to worry about looking at each other while they were using the subjective viewpoint. I think one beta tester previously mentioned that there's no special animation or stance that will tell you someone is using the subjective viewpoint, but you can see them aiming their gun around. Not 100% sure on that though.

Lyrise
Aug 11, 2006, 12:30 AM
This is correct. No special stances or anything. You could even see shots fire up at a 89 degree angle perpendicular to you.

Create a mechgun by using two handguns http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif
Create a caduceus using light techs on a rod http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif
Create a Yamigarasu using a Megid J-Sword
Create an Asuka by making Foie Dual Sabers, guys, what potential!

Don't have an orgasm...lol, but Shotguns will be cool.

Shotguns are an evolution of the Shot from PSO, basically they look more like real Shotguns but they function in the exact same way: by releasing a spread of bullets that can hit multiple targets. Pretty much how a real Shotgun works, except with Photon bullets.

Whether they have a Shotgun that fires real rounds, like the Yasminkov, is unknown. In fact, I don't even think any rare weapons have been discovered yet.
