OK! I just got PSO. I made my Ranger, Frank, and went to Episode I. It is so cool!! But anyway, I did a forest run. It was really weird, because I found alot of items that weren't in Normal Forest on DC. I found:
Trimate x1
Digrinder x2
Monogrinder x1
Dimate x1
Rifle+2 x1
_red rare boxes_
Photon Drop x2
AddSlot x1
_rare monster_
Hildeblue x1
What the heck? RARE items in normal forest? This is COOL! I also thought that my first Hildebear turning out to be a Hildeblue was neato (it only left $$, but what's to be expected?). Have other people found red boxes in normal mode?
ps- what do you do with photon drops?
I'll bet anyone who see these will be surprise when they go on PSO Ep.I&II. And I like that fact that you can find rares much easiler.

Dang, I wasn't planning on taking it online for a while, but now I will! Must find a ethernet cable and a bba...
I went through VR Temple, but only got half-way through. It is hard! Nothing spectacular. I also did so more quests in Episode I. I did all the ones up to 'Fake In Yellow' 'cause I heard you got a "chao thingy" for your "game boy advance" after doing it. Meh, maybe it is just on higher difficulties.
hey Khaotika, what were you characters names? I know I played with you, but I always miss the connection between the game and the people's psow name. You were a ranger named khaotika, and something else. Blah, that was a long time ago.

VR is just the training area. The areas after training, Jungle Mountain Seaside and Seabed, are where you get most of your ooohs and ahhhs.

You gotten little lucky with that rare monster, but everything else looks like standard Ep1&2 drops.
Yup, you can find Trimates in normal forest now. Surprising? Nope....

I found 3 monogrinders, my very first enemy I saw in episode 2 was a NAR LILLY! And I found a "booma's right arm"
*EDIT o also my game rules because in the serial code thing. One of the 4 digit numbers is 1337.

I found a photon drop, but being strapped for cash like a typical force, I'm about to sell it so I can buy reverser. Mmm... reverser.
Though, I've never played V2 before, so I don't know if it's worth selling.

I was finding Tri-things toos. Saw a red box, didnt get it though. I didnt really find much at all...
Episode 2 is tough, me, Abbadon, and DeathCheese tried to go through, didnt make it..

Same thing here. The first item I found was a monogrinder (im playin episode I, btw) and I ended up finding a few of those, a digrinder, a tri-mate, and a couple daggers with good %/s/ablities......I love this game....

wow so im not the only one..i was wondering why i found monogrinders and several trigrinders. oh yea i also found that blue rappy..i forget his name at the moment..i have to get back to playing bye

Grinders are much more common now. Be careful, you may end up with nothing in your storage but grinders, which did happen to me.

Booma's Right Arm is used to make the Booma Sword, it's an awesome weapon and it's special is the 1-hit KO.

Sonic Team seems to have made Phantasy Star Online Episode 1&2 less stingy, overall, in terms of item drops, compared to the Dreamcast versions. Whether this is good or bad is hard to evaluate. It all depends on what one prefers in a game. It will probably please more players than it angers, if the complaints about searching for items on the Dreamcast edition of PSO is any guide to player sentiment.

Yeah, I've had a pretty lucky time finding rares in the normal areas of Episode I as well. Nothing unusual though, and nothing super rare, either. But SEGA finally wanted to start making rare items actual FINDABLE so people won't be tempted to cheat and create their own. Heh. There was Khao, and there was also LuccaAshtear, FOnewearl and Clairity, HUnewearl. I believe I played Clairity more when we played together.
Anyways, you can get the chao setup in Fake in Yellow. After you pipe up from talking to the funny doctor in the Rappy suit, go back down to the same room. You'll see 3 Rappies staring at something. Talk to them and the camera will point out the chao hidden on the hill. Talk to the chao, then go back up. I knew it was Clairity! Anyway, I got the chao thing. I'm going to try to load the chao garden into Sonic Adventure 2. I doubt it will work...

Ive seen some US players that mustve done that, they liek alrdy lvl 50, im liek wtf?!? im lvl 26 and ive got roughly 19 hours on the game.
*EDIT I found an addslot and a BLADE DANCE TODAY!!!!! Im gunna save the addslot for a WHILE, and I cant use the blade dance for a WHILE.

Damn, I've been playing for 12 hours Offline..with only a single Photon Drop as a rare item...
Though I have found some Mono/Di/Trigrinders...
And I haven't even seen a rare monster yet...
Meh, can't complain too much, already I've found more in 12 hours than I could probably find in 24 hours on the DC version..
