I live in a area (boonies) where they do not offer high speed Internet. Satellite dsl is way more laggy then dial up for gaming so that's not worth the trouble. I'm a huge fan of PSO and i played PSO on dc/gc/pc and loved every bit of it. And it was so dial up friendly. And now i read the requirements are 256k broadband minimum and I'm about to just die. FFXI ran on dial-up so did EQ. And now i cant play my most loved online rpg? please say this isn't true =(

sorry but they are moving forward with optimal connections and stuff. the action speed of PSU is far faster paced than any action and activity going on in FF11. They have to minimize as much lag as possible.

even broadband will lag sometimes in this game, imagine dial-up, so even if they allowed it, dial-up would feel downright unplayable in its condition.

is satellite dsl really laggier than dial-up? well if Satellite dsl counts as broadband that might be your only option.

you might still be able to play on dial-up. but the connection speed with that might not be a pretty picture.

hey unlike last time at least you will still have a solid offline mode that shouldn't rattle your brain making you try to figure out its plot. I think I remember someone saying that they tried running the beta on a dial up connection and it wasn't pretty like http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_chicken.gif said. The way things are expanding now adays I wouldn't be suprised if you got a high speed provider in the next year or two.

well http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_rabite.gif , I meant that Sega is aiming for faster connections for this game so it can keep up with the action.

not about the possibility of a high speed provide showing up in the topic creator's area. no one can predict when that would happen. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Oh I was just refering to this bit http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_chicken.gif, I know thats not what you meant http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Yeah it is going to be one of the most action heavy multiplayer games online now that I think about it. What with all the rangers, techs, and PA's added into the mix. Mayber this time around they will actually have enemies located in the same place on everyone screen. Unlike in PSO where I would be playing and see some random person hit some random enemy from across the room with a double saber >.> but on his screen it was right in front of him.

Dial up was doomed from the start.

No way, that title changes automatically, before it said Legendary. I thought it was based on amount of posts, but people here seem to have their own custom title.

Dark Falz Cultist doesn't define me AT ALL!!! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

is this a moderator's doing? they sure have a sense of humor. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_chicken.gif go to your account, then click edit your info, then scroll down to the first option under the avatars. It should say "your title" type in what you want in the field then press enter on your keyboard. Tada! you have your own title! By the way http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_chicken.gif, did you ever take the time to notice my location? well obviously there are people in the world who won't be able to play it online and often there's nothing that can be done about it. This should be an example to those who will be able to play online, to value how lucky they are.

PS I didn't make the Bananaman gifs, they can be found here:

And NO I'm not a member of those forums, I found this link on the Sega forums http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Edit: hmm? why is it that now when I see you tag http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_chicken.gif, I see those old romantic commercials playing in my head... with the announcer saying " http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_chicken.gif's are forever" and the two shadows lean in for a kiss...

I am officially scared.

That commercial always reminded me of the Family Guy (?) parody - where the girls shadow slowly sinks to the bottom of the screen near the male shadow's waist.. and it reads...

"Diamonds - She'll pretty much have to."

Well, playing psu with 56 k would be a hell.
And also a problem for your team.
on psu there is to much things that run server side, and in crowded areas it would be a hell for you.
You would be dead before you would see it in your screen, and your efficiency at killing mobs would be 0 , because mobs would not be where you see them most of the time .....
I had to play WoW during a lot of time with a crappy connection/pc, and i can tell you that after a couple days in wich you dont care about lagging because the excitement of playing you loved game , it slowly transforms in frustration and stress , instead of fun.
I really hope that you manage to get online on psu but ... i dont know how much good it will do to you.

To be fair, PSOBB had a 'requirement' of 256kbps as well, but it ran fine on dialup for me.

Just to repeat in every other thread that you've ever made, PSU will run on dial-up. However, its performance will suck due to the mass amounts of data transfer necessary for a game like PSU.

Now onto the other issue of broadband service. It seems to me that you're just not trying hard enough to find a broadband provider and using the reason that you are living in the boondocks (I will not argue this point since the population of your location is just barely over 15k). If your location in your profile is correct, there are at least 3 providers to your area. Just because you can't find a local office in the town you live in, doesn't mean there are no other providers to the area you live in.

He hasn't replied to this topic, and he's made 7 topics about the same thing. He has an xbox live gamertag and according to Lyrise he can get broadband where he lives.

You wanna know what I think? I think he's a troll.

I have a gamertag on my xbox 360 because i have my 360 hooked up to my pc so i can have a gamecard and get all the latest updates. and i take my 360 to a friends to play games online somtimes. that is why i have xbox live because 360 suxs without the updates. Ive made so many post but this one is like 2 month newer then my others and i was just thinking maybe sega announce it would work on dial up? PSO BB says BB only but i only suspect thats because they never tested it with dial up. but it did work great. Im really hoping psu is playable on dial up.

Our dial up costs 30$ a month after you count the extra phone line. So yes ive tryed HARD to get dsl or broadband. we just live to far out!. I tryed a diffrent company but after talking for hours they told me the current phone company owns ALL the lines in this smalll ass town. (Monopoly) Ive tryed i know dsl is better and cheaper then dial up. It just not posible here. really disapoint when i have to explain that i cant get dsl because everyone just automaticly think im just a cheap ass that just doesnt wanna pay for it. which im not.
