Does anyone know if the PC version of this game supports widescreen resolutions? Given widescreen PC monitors are becoming more and more commonplace these days...

640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x960, and 1280x1024 are the only resolutions that seemed to be available, at least on the beta client.

Damn, this is confirmed? I mean, most of the time widescreen resolutions only appear when connected to a widescreen monitor anyway.

Maybe I'm just clutching to straws here. The 360 version has widescreen and all that, after all.

I can't say confirmed for the retail release, but as I said, those are the resolutions available on the beta client, on my end anyways. I have widescreen resolutions at my disposal through my videocard and can switch to them through display properties in my control panel, but no sign of those widescreen modes on the client when I switched to them.

At E3 it did appear that the game was running on widescreen monitors, unfortunately no one at E3 could confirm whether the image was just being stretched or if it was a widescreen signal.

Since the interface is resolution independent now, widescreen views shouldn't be hard to implement.

A bit gutting if it doesn't, I can see myself getting the 360 version instead. I use my PC on my LCD HDTV, which is 1360x768 resolution, through DVI see. I'd prefer to play the PC version, as I reckon cross-compatiblity will make the PC/PS2 servers the most packed, but if the PC version lacks widescreen, better off going 360 in my case.

On an unrelated note, does the beta support windowed mode?

the beta client had limited rez. you really think 1024 would be the max rez, when even psobb supports at least 1200? the ps2 and xbox vers are widescreen, so why wouldnt the pc be as well?

Indeed, windowed mode is native to the client.

I seem to remember, during development, they were shooting for Widescreen compatability for 760p and possibly 1080i...

Not talking about HDTVs here. PC version. Although, if they have widescreen support for the Xbox 360 (since PS2 doesn't output above 480i), that'd make it even more unlikely that they'd chose to not support widescreen resolutions for the PC version.

even if it doesnt support widescreen resolutions just run it windowed, itll cover most of your screen and leave space for MSN/Yahoo/Other messenger apps.

Slightly besides the point tbh.

Suppose we'll have to wait and see for the final.

As much as I hate to admit it, PC version for now, does not support widescreen resolutions. on my 19" widescreen (1440x900 resolution) the max I can run it at is 1024x768. I'm assuming I don't get the 1280 options because they would be to large in the height department. So until it's patched in us widescreen users get to play in wonderful window mode! Unless of course, you enjoy a horribly stretched game >.>

Sadly, 1280X1024 is the max resolution supported by the PC version at the moment -_-

Which as mentioned before, includes the lack of wide-screen support.

Awhile back I made a post in which I had decompiled the option.exe file and confirmed that there was no widescreen support for the PC version.

Here is an image of the particular section of the exe file that shows the resolutions:

I remain hopeful that some day they'll patch that. Like they patched mipmapping in.

I have a toshiba hd 34in wide. 1080i etc...
I works with my Nvidia Geforce 6800 gt, but there are about two inches on either side that it will not fill. This doesnt bother me much.
