View Full Version : Humans seem useless.

KylePhoenix
Aug 13, 2006, 12:33 PM
It makes no sense. If you want to be a Force, then just be Female Newman, for Hunters just be Male Beasts and for Rangers be Cast Male/Female.

What is the point of Humans then?

E.G. A Beast Force seems useless, as so does a Human Force. They get no advantadges compared to Newmans at all. So Humans have been made redundant ):

That topic is probably enough of a debate on this. The best thing going for humans and the like is expert type, and you can find plenty of that info in that thread.

I'm kinda confused as to what "Expert class" is. Does every race get it or is it just Humans?

Humans look hotter than the others.

Newmans have silly ears.
Beasts have silly lips.
Casts are robots.

This is the only thing that is important.

I'm making this silly topic even sillier. If it gets more silly I will start posting pics of hot PSU humars.

Humans aren't necessarily worse Forces than Newmans. Take these facts into consideration:

1. Humans start with 80/77 HP (male/female) while Newmans start with 77/74 HP. So they can survive more damage than Newmans can.
2. Humans have 24/23 ATP while Newmans have 22/20 ATP, making them a good choice for battle mages (especially when Expert Level becomes available to them).
3. Their TAP and MST, while lower than a Newman, is still better than both the Cast and Beast.
4. Humans have the highest EVA, meaning they have a greater chance of not getting hit.

So looking from a survival standpoint, the Human Force would be a tad bit more durable than the Newman Force, although their techs wouldn't be as good. I'd say that's a good enough tradeoff.

hypersaxon
Aug 13, 2006, 06:44 PM
And for Hunters:

1. Humans have better accuracy than a Beast does, meaning they'll hit more.
2. TAP and MST are higher, so when Expert Level is available, they'll do better with techs than Beast.
3. Humans have better evasion than Beast.

And for Rangers:

1. Once again, higher MST and TAP than Cast.
2. Much higher evasion than Cast.

That's true. However, since you can only be one class at a time, it's also irrelevant.

Unless of course you factor in the Expert Type feature, which we still have zero actual info about other than that it'll let you have a secondary class in some way or another. Well, we also know that you won't get it until your character has progressed a good deal as well.

Mmm all that i can say is that I started playing the premiere disk witha female newman FOrce and I soon recreated her as a female Human cause I was tired of doing absoultely no damage when the Photon charge of my weapons finished...
Talking about stats Casts are really sweet but I just don't like them :/

I'm going to give you all advice & do with it what you will. It can be summed up in four words:

PICK
...
WHAT
...
YOU
...
WANT

It's that simple. You can recommend 'best' race or 'best' class or 'best race' for a specific class. Some of such info might be true. However, it all comes down to:

1. How do I want to look?
2. What do I want to do?
3. A char (being my avatar), how do I see myself in a Phantasy setting?

When you can answer those questions, make what you want & enjoy your chars...period...

...except for HUmars...there's too many. LOL (I joke!)

Careful with the anti-human talk or else you'll start the storyline for Phantasy Star Universe 2 - Destroy all Humans. In which the Newmans will attempt to conquer and destroy the Human race with the aid of the beasts. But the Casts will respond by creating a blue robot to defend humanity. Then that robot will fight his way through 8 powereful super Newmans, copying the weapon of each one it destroys on his way to stopping the Master Beast in his skull fortress where the battle for Humanity will come to its climax. Now that would be a story for PSU2!

Wait... has that story already been done?

In any case, humans always tend to be a jack of all trades but master of none. I imagine they will stay that way. A little of everything but not overly powereful in any one category.

As a long time gamer and a skilled PSO vet, i mainly played a Human character; so frankly I thik that Human characters can be played with skill, so they are not "useless."

Judging/being overly judgemental of a race type in a videogame is kind of uneccessary, it's all a matter of player skill, any flaws or slight drawbacks can be compensated for with *skill* at playing the character, managing your items, weapons, units, etc... marry that with *good* team work during online play adds up to a good gameplay run.

I hope players of PSU will not get into race or class bashing here or in the online game...

Well, dragons think we humans are tasty. Not sure if they'll wanna try a Cast unless they think it's a can with food inside.

Shiro_Ryuu
Aug 17, 2006, 06:35 PM
how about Beasts, I mean, if they're generally bigger and stronger, that means they'll have more meat in them, so dragons might prefer them instead.

ShadowDragon28

Ryu or Long/Lung dragons don't eat humans btw. By nature are either terrestrial or celestial spirit-beings/creatures, they don't eat meat. Neither do shadow elemental Yin Ling or Fu Kan LLung dragons.

This isn't FFXI. Having a bit of variety is a good thing.

ShadowDragon28
Aug 18, 2006, 05:48 PM
Varity is good, I am planning on makling a Human male character, a male Cast, a Newman female,a Human female, and Cast female, possibly a Beast female.

It would of been sweet if it was possible to make Half-Newman characters (with smaller pointed ears) and a race of quasi-dragonian humanoids (something lik Fou -lU in Breath of Fire 4) would of been cool.

But ah well, what's available is cool, and I like the variety in the character creation.

Though I may only have time to play one or two of my created characters...

Ok, let me add my 2p.

It's an RPG, you avatar is supposed to represent you in the game world setting. Stats, numbers, bleh. They mean zip. If you want to play like that go buy DnD. PSU is for fun, not just for stat fests.

It's just another aspect on the various. But you always have people that will make character strictly according to stats. Just another type of game playing really.

That's great, but I'm pretty sure we'll all be up against dragons that will want to eat us if they think we're tasty. (Really, an interesting tidbit that we should remember in case saying it at some time makes us look smarter than we really are. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif)
