I haven't played the beta, but from this video, it looks like you start in your room, then get a tutorial (about the city maybe) from an NPC who is the same race as you. After that you get their guild card

That video was very helpful ether, thanks for posting it, I had many of the same questions as redmage so it is good that the answers are available.

Well after you create your char, it basically takes you through a long series of CS's then after those CS you do start in your room in which your free to exit out to floor 1 of the station, i managed to find my way up to floor 4 where i could go to a diff planet, transfer to a diff universe or choose to go and fight http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

WOOHOO! I never seen that video before! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

That's a great video showing how you making a character and starting online for the first time works! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

I think oShojino also has a video about Guardians Colony and showing the multiple sections and floors it has. It's so wonderfully massive. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

It's as written above.
You are given a tutorial by a NPC according to the race and you are also given a starting job (that you can change for 245 meseta - just after the first mission - at the guardians desk). You can invite the NPC that gave you his/her card at the end of the tutorial in your party.

HUMANS - tutorial by Hyuuga - hunter
NEWMANS - tutorial by Karen - force
CAST - tutorial by Lou - ranger
BEAST - tutorial by Leogini - hunter

Erm.... Isn't the newman tutorial given by Maya not Karen?

After you create your char, start in your room, etc etc, every time you log on, do you start in your room? I always had to get used to starting in a lobby (when playing PSO online) or on P2 (when offline). It just made sense to me to start everyday in your room, ever since I heard of My Room, way back when. So do you always load up into your room each time? Hope so.

Lol, first you'll go through the char select screen to pick your char, race, and features, then comes the long series of CS's, also where you log off in the lobby is where you'll log back on in the game, but i'm not sure what happens if you d/c inbattle and come back.

You can skip the tutorials. However, you will not obtain the guild card for the NPC tutor. You can go back and do the tutorial later though.

If you're getting online for the first time, I would recommend going through the tutorial for the following reasons:
-Walkthrough of the Guardian Colony and Stores. The Guardian Colony is a big place and it is easy to get lost if you are unfamiliar with it.
-Combat Walkthrough. You'll get to fight against a few monsters. This will give you an overview of the combat system, along with earning some exp/meseta.
-NPC Partner Card - At the end of the tour, you'll receive a Partner Card from the NPC. You can use this to invite the NPC to join your team.
