I am curious as to why you didn't crop away all that white? You could have easily cut away large portions of that empty space, and yet you posted big images where over half the space is pure white. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

Your sketches are pretty good, however.
