once again its almost impossible to get ONLINE WITH PSO! ok i have a few ques. when u go to options and click on network and stuff, the first page has Provider 1-3 on it. Are those for ISPs? (are isps like aol, yahoo?) I use aol so do i put aol? or do i put my User name off Sega. com. and then the next few pages over is User ID and password. (is user id the one off Sega.? or my aol email?) and the password, does it have to be the same as the one you put on sega net?
I know its sort of confusing but if u can answer any of these questions i would be thankful.

You can't use AOL with PSO. Sorry.

You got 56k modem? Then it should say on the packaging: "Does not work with AOL".

AOL requires its own software in order to log in. So no, it isn't compatible with PSO at all. Even if you have the dial-up number, there's no way for your GC to log in without the AOL software. I'd suggest you get a local ISP. It'll probably be better for you anyway, because AOL is extremely watered-down.
I'd write more, but I'm in a bit of a hurry, sorry. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Is there any particular reason you have to keep AOL? If it's because of your parents, maybe you can try to convince them that AOL sucks. Because, well, it does. It eats up resources on your computer, not to mention making the Internet work completely bass-ackwards...
You might want to look up ISPs in your area. They might be in your phone book, or you could enter your city's name (or the closest big city that's within local calling distance) and "ISP" in Google. Local ISPs are usually pretty cheap. As far as free ISPs, I don't know of any, and I don't think they exist anymore.
Edit: If you can't find a cheap local ISP, or just don't feel like looking, I suggest Highstream (http://www.highstream.net). It's $9 a month, I think. I haven't tested it with PSO, but I'm pretty sure it would work - they provide you with DNS numbers and everything.
