Hey I was thinking that games tend to develop from ideas of other games. Kinda like corporations tend to get their ideas from competitors.

My question to you is, if you can take something from another MMO and implement it to this, what would it be?

Personally, I would like the whole Rare/Ex factor that FFXI had. Certain items that if you picked up, it was yours and yours alone. Other items you can sell and trade but can only carry one at a time. And some items you could carry one of the item and it was yours alone.

I was a fan of this as it did stop a lot duplications from existing.

I liked FFXI, one problem was when you were close to lvl 20 like lvl 15-20 you had to do part lvling, and it was really hard to find a party.... if I had to combine two games it would have to be (guildwars-WOW,and PSO/PSU) It would be weird but here it goes, so the fighting would be like PSU, and PSO, the planets are like space/midevil like GW, and WOW would be like...... the races you could be maybe.......i dont no for sure, just made this up right now....It would look funny (World of Phantasy Star Wars) That would be its name http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif lol

The ability to be able to explore the world but have your own instance of world exploration like how Guild Wars did it.

Im so glad PSO and PSU do not borrow heavily from MMOs. otherwise it would be just as boring.

Actually, PSU borrows heavily from other MMOs. The crafting system is inherent to MMOs. The job change system is a straight rip-off of FFXI. The list goes on.

That's pretty much part of the reason why I'm here. PSU stole some of the best traits from MMOs and retained the action-based combat system. Good on them.

In all honesty, I hope this game is successful enough that other companies will start trying to make their own online action-RPGs. So far, only Capcom's tried and Monster Hunter 2 shows no sign of coming stateside. More competition leads to better games, and I'm all for it.

You know how difficult it is to have active button based response in an open world of 4thousand and it have respond in sync to all users? Even WoW did the same thing, it was just quicker.

In World of Warcraft, there were multiple ways of handling party loot. There could be a Master Looter, who was the only one who could pick up drops and then distribute as needed; or you could do Group Loot, where each drop was keyed to be picked up by rotating players. Along with that you had a rolling system that could be set up to be used on any "tier" of item type, in which everyone would be prompted with a window. They could "Greed" the item, and everyone would get a random roll to see who got it, or you could hit the "Need" button if it was something was useful to you, and then only the people who hit "Need" would roll for the item. Also, all money was automaticly split evenly.

Eliminates that feeling of "uh oh, I'm in a pick-up group, are these guys just gonna vaccum everything up?"

well that's their fault for not choosing instanced areas for the whole world. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif but ya games like FF11 are a special case, the way the world is presented is fine and all it's just too bad it can't handle true real-time combat. oh well.

I love PSU/PSO as the way it is, all of it rocks, hope they never change the battle system, new races, and new extra proffestions are fine, battle system makes the game amazing, cause its different between all those other MMOs

ya and not just cause it's different, cause it's the most practical and natural way to fight. and its all the more exciting and interactive.
