Phantasy Star Universe: SoJ Warns PSU Distributors
Posted by Ryna

According to Gamefront.de, Sega of Japan warned distributors today not to break the street date for Phantasy Star Universe.

The earliest the game can go on sale is August 31st at 7 am. Breaking the street date could have serious legal repercussions.

Also, if someone attempts to go online before that date, their account will be suspended indefinitely. So if you happen to receive the game early, be sure to wait until the 31st to go online.

wow they really are handling PSU with care and attention. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif but what is to stop the black market from selling them early?
well even if someone can get a copy before 31st, they won't be able to play online yet.
Though they might play the offline story in the meantime or somethin.

If it's the PC version, it may be risky to even do that since it requires an internet connection.

people are stupid they should wait instead of being so impatient i mean i would like to play it now but im not gonna go and do illigal stuff to get it, plus you can get a big fine a put in jail for doing that...for example halo2 some guy got ahold of it somehow and gave it to a bunch of people and he had it up for download he either got fined $10,000 or $100,000 per copy downloaded and a month in jail per copy...the people who downloaded it also got fined $1,000, so i very well think its very much the wait....lol

GameStop: Oh man oh man oh man. I've got the game right here but I can't sell it. Oh man oh man oh man. Hey there mister customer would you like to buy Phan-oops I mean Final Fantasy! Yeah thats it. Man I gotta sell PSU oh man why do they give it to me so early if I can't sell it?

I guess the people who really have to restrain themselves though are people who preordered it cause they tend to get the game a day early.

All games have this warning, though as seen with PSU, some are inforced.

Last years Madden, a Walmart sold 10 copies of 06 and was fined for $30k each.

I understand why PSU is doing this, they want everyone to start at the same time, so everyone starts even, and there wont be this one guy who has a days worth of experiance over anyone else.

Ofcourse after the initial day, all bets are off.

Is this satire? If so, well done.

They do this with most games because I've heard case, where retailers will change the price of something or sell it early allow them to bump prices or something by claiming to have exclusive access to the game before it's released.

so a store might make a little extra money. so? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif they purchase the games from the publishers based on the possible consumer demands. the publisher isn't losing a dime. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

stores have to sell games at a higher price to make a profit themselves. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
