Offline Extra Mode And Story Mode

I have a question about the title stated above...will there be any difference between the online story mode and the extra story mode? If so please explain

Extra Mode has no story as far as I kno. You just make your own character and run around killing stuff and collecting rares.

Extra mode is kinda like the theory behind .hack imo without the storyline. Offline simulation of an online rpg for all those who either live out in BFE in the middle of nowhere and cant get hi-speed internet or for those who's parents are tightwads and wont get hi-speed internet.
