After you get the game updated and such.... would you try the game using a dial up connection? I know im gonna get flammed now. But now that the retail game is out in people's hand i really wanna know. Thanks

finally you ask at an appropriate time >.> I just hope people will answer your question now that they can see the final product. I doubt there are a lot of people who pre-ordered this who have dailup and most likely people won't change to dial-up to test it out.

your best bet is to hope that Ryna or another member with dial-up will try it out for you.

I think there is free dial up all over the web. I know its not a hassle to try on dial up tho plug the phone in and setup ur connection and dial. But i know ive annoyed some people on here asking and im sorry. But just think. Would you do the same thing if you cant get dsl/bb and was waiting for the game for 2-3 years.

I guess I don't blame you. If I was in your position I would be worried too.

PSU - Dialup
-------------------------
The game plays but you see people flash alot.
Monsters can hit you out of nowhere due to lag.
The game is playable if you can ignore thease.
*Note lag will be less for the USA version due to servers being closer.

Friend on AIM told me this.

No, problem.

verdict: similar to the beta for now. Ranger is right, US servers are closer so distance that data has to be sent through is shorter resulting in slightly less lagh(not a significant amount though).

So keep these in mind if/when you decide to buy PSU when it reaches US shores. The amount of players should not change the amount of lag much so don't ask again in a few months http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif lol, thanks NuclearRanger for your response.

PHANTASY STAR UNIVERSE WILL NOT RUN AT EASILY PLAYABLE SPEEDS WHEN USING A DIAL-UP CONNECTION.

Now, please shut up about this subject. I already knew what this was going to be about the moment I saw who posted this. You've asked this question, to my knowledge, some eight or so times while I've been a member of this message board. Every single time, someone has told you that the game runs very, very badly on dial-up (or, in the ones before the closed beta came out, that it probably would), yet you just cannot seem to get the fact through your skull. Nothing is going to change. The game will not suddenly and dramatically speed up to twice the speed of broadband on dial-up. So please, just stop asking.

why do you have to get so uptight because he is asking a question? So he has asked it before, hew was right to ask now because that was back in the beta. I would have asked now too just to know if it ran any better.

Yeah for once he did ask at a good time so just let him be, your reply was out of order. Noone had actually tried it on dial up either, we speculated it would be laggy due to crud bandwidth but did not know how bad and now we do.

P.S please dont ask again when the US version is out.

Thanks much http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Connection speeds don't change after a Beta test. I seriously doubt anyone is going to inconvenience their entire family by tieing up the phone line forever just to see if the game will run on a 56k connection, because someone doesn't like the answer they've been given time and again.

It runs, but you'd be better off playing a game of stick and hoop. Deal with it.

Id be one of the best players on psu and not one of the dupers. Just because i asked the forums once a week lately isnt spamming. Take away ur dsl for a week and use dial up and id be worryed to.

xenokai
Aug 31, 2006, 09:36 PM
Back to topic tho please respond if you have the heart to try it. Also yes i MAY ask when the US ver comes out. Whats wrong with that? the server will be closer and it will give me direct for sure anwser. Thats like 2 months away so why would it matter if i asked then? I can bet alot of people ask the release date like 3 times a month. I think the main reason people are upset with me is simply because im on dial up and you think id lag other people up which isnt gonna happen. This a MMORPG servers not a host a match and run off ur connection kinda game.

You're pathetic.

Someone who cannot get the fact through their head that the game will not support dial-up well enough to play properly is not going to be a "good player" on Phantasy Star Universe. You've been asking this question continuously since March, and the answer has always been the same: It won't work well because of the sheer amount of data transfer required. However, you refuse to accept this, and continue to create topics devoted to whether or not the game will support dial-up, despite having been answered ten times previously.

Enjoy Story and Extra modes.

I wouldn't use dial up. I could walk to the local library, use their PCs, walk back, and still not be connected.

And please define spamming, because apparently you're definition of "lately" seems to be since almost 3 months months prior. You've got 11 different topics giving you the same answer.

Accept it.

Yeah, people do ask about the release date quite a bit. Thing is, it isn't the same person every time. Plus, just because the servers are closer doesn't magically let you connect twice as fast as before. The difference in latency will be minimal. We aren't worried about you lagging people, we're worried about you having almost a full page of topics telling you the same thing.

I miss back in the dreamcast days where these forums was all mature about helping someone. Not hating the person because he is on dial up..... also why worry about me having a full page total of threads? Isn't like its all on the same page and i first poster months ago asking.

We don't hate you because you're on dial up!

You know what? Forget it. I'm done. You're too ignorant to even realize you've been answered in every topic. You want your magic answer?

Yes. PSU will work brilliantly with a 56k connection. So brilliantly infact, that I'm going to switch to dial up too!

Everyone, party at Lala land's place!!! He has magical connections that make dial up faster than Broadband!!

w/e, if you don't like his topics don't read them, but xenokai you have gotten an answer for now so just don't ask again at least till US release. k?

When the timer in my sig runs out you can post another topic asking about PSU working on dial-up, sound fair?

i didnt plan on making a new thread till then.... but a anwser to this would be great if someone doesnt mind trying it. Im a hardcore PSO player ive played all of them since DC all the way up to psobb. And another reason for me to ask is why buy the game just to find out its not playable? I know Ryna helped me in my questions and i thank her for it and for even trying. But reason ive brought it back up is because that was Beta and ive played many games in beta and i know how bad lag can be in beta compared to retail games. Thank's to the people thats understanding my point of view.

*Points to post*

Your. Connection. Is. Too. Slow. To. Effectively. Play. The Game.

We don't need to test it to surmize that 56k = slow, and slow = bad. Therefore, 56k = bad.

I even did math for you.

just watch the timer http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif lol

according to NuclearRanger it is playable and can only get better when it's released on US servers. I say, if you have the money then buy it. hell, if you want ill be in a party with you and help you out cuz hopefully i'll soon have a pc so fast it'll make up for your lag http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Because theres so much on the line that me and my friend had to lie about it.

McLaughlin

No, I don't think you're lying. Does that actually let you play games? Or do you just use it to DL things. Either way, nice score O_o

I'm not interested in enough 360 games to warrent a purchase of any of them (except I might have to cave on Dead Rising).

Saint row and Dead rising are great. But saints row is a must buy. I can play some games (like perfect dark zero on 2 player co-op great and even with vouice chat) i can voice chat with friend easily too. I also can play 10 player halo 2 macths usally. But i rarely use it to play online inless i take it to my friends house (who IS able to get dsl). Im sure you thought i just was to cheap to have highspeed? do you think id keep dial up if i could upgrade? I mean 360 online is just amazing.

no, im not selling anything, the timer is there. I would send it as a downloadable file but you would need flash (the actual movie making program) installed for it to work.

Nekomimi

I don't understand why he just refuses to accept that dial-up is not going to give him a very good play experience. That's his answer, yet after he got it he started ranting that we 'hate him because he's on dial-up', which has nothing to do with we think he's annoying.

Link00seven

It would appear that dial-up isn't supported.

This topic isn't going anywhere either. I think the question has been answered and this can be locked now to prevent any additional problems between members here.
