View Full Version : How to spot REAL Cheaters sort of.

Easiest way to locate cheaters is this.
Cheaters use the Gameshark cheat, right, so therefore they (usually) won't be using any new weaponry, that a veteran might have. I know I have a Varista +9 but that was before my DC erased my character, now Im at level 25 (35 before) and I can't even find a half-way decent weapon, at least not until I get back to the ruins. Anyway, back to subject, check the damage that the supposed level 100 person is doing. If it isn't higher than at least 100 a strike, then my guess (just a guess) is that they didn't work too hard to get there.

A legitimate L100 person *shouldn't* need to ask you for any weapons, armor, technique discs, or ask game mechanics questions (ie. "what should I feed my MAG?"). They shouldn't be in a hurry to grab every item they see, nor should they be concerned with money. They should be able to walk into most rooms on any difficulty and decimate the monsters easily. With the exception of D.Falz on V.hard, nothing should do too much damage to this character. They especially will never ask about any cheats/dupes/whatever.
At this time, only GOOD non-Japanese players should be hitting L100. These people CANNOT get to L100 this fast without figuring out most of the game's secrets and spending ALOT of time getting rare and powerful items.
Heck, I'm L65. My rifles and armor/shield as well as 2/3 of my slotted things are all yellow. I have the next armor class I'll need in 3-slot variety+shield to go with it. At this point it's hard to advance quickly without POWERFUL rare items. I juggle a Visk and Justy depending on the terrain, since each has plusses in different areas. I could not survive long without knowing this.

Online I was with a L99 person who had alot of trouble, and they were pretty legit. They had no troubles up until then. Sometimes they just don't stock up on the ol' Light protection, ya know? I think I even revived that person a few times.

.......
Dark Falz is extremely easy for me... As a HUmar level 69 (hehe) I can beat Dark Falz (with no light units) without dying a single time (unless some stupid newbie shoots him when he has my soul).
Also, cheaters try to denie it anytime they can. Such as
"I got the insides, I got my US game a month early"
"I have the import"
"Cheaters suzxs!"
And so on...

Lets just say tht a lv 100 should usually ask you if you need help instead of backwards. Hell if I ever get to lv 100, I will even hunt for good items for very decent newbies. I hate to trade... people don't trust me and I don't trust people not on any boards, I trust everyone of you on this board but the only problem is that my phone line is always busy and can't play online. I really want to play online with some of you people.
Try to spot a lv 100 with that mighty saber +? and lv 5 mag... ask them to go to mines or ruins.... first answer: ''whats that?'' or ''I don't want to.''

i met a cheater once who joined my game,he was a big Racast, and he had those tiny double mags that you can get at level 10.
he was like:"i never knew how to feed my mags so that why they are so small!"
he really thought i was gonna believe that.
moron.
then he was trying to bribe me with meseta!
ofcourse i didn't take it!
but if it was a super rare gun........http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif

I?m lvl 87 a Fonewm; not too far from 100. Considering how much your stat improvements slow down each level at this point I doubt I?ll be that much different at 100. According to most of everyone?s cheater spotting logic I guess everyone will think I am one when that level comes around http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_wink.gif.
?? check the damage that the supposed level 100 person is doing. If it isn't higher than at least 100 a strike, then my guess (just a guess) is that they didn't work too hard to get there.?
I basically use three different weapons: a mind railgun to recharge my mana, a Soul Eater +35, and a Fill Raygun for Dark Falz. Depending on which I use my damage ranges from 20 ? 145 or so. So I guess I?ll fail this cheater test ;p.
?A legitimate L100 person *shouldn't* need to ask you for any weapons, armor, technique discs, or ask game mechanics questions (ie. "what should I feed my MAG?").?
I could see myself failing every aspect of this test: I haven?t found one random 10star or better rare (I did get Soul Eater from the quest) so if someone is running around asking if anyone wants to trade for a double saber you?ll see me often say yes; My armor situation is pretty good ? a friend gave me a 3 slot Parasite Wear: De Rol which I?ve been using since lvl 66 but I still every once in a while try to trade for something better; I have some techniques at lvl 14, some and 13, and megid and grantz at 1 and 2 respectively so I could see myself still looking for technique discs; finally, I am constantly asking game mechanics questions (I?ll actually post one right after I finish typing this up ;P) since much of the mechanics are still somewhat shrouded in mystery.
?They shouldn't be in a hurry to grab every item they see, nor should they be concerned with money.?
Ok, I don?t do the former only because I?d feel kind of like a thief, but after everyone has grabbed whatever loot they want I?ll go through and take whatever is left over -- as for the latter, I?m frequently still concerned with cash. Constant trifluid use and feeding my mag (it eats a regimen of Trimates and Sol Atomizers http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_wink.gif) rapidly depletes my meseta reserves. Whenever I get down to 150k or so I go and sell some varistas and the like to low level players.
?They should be able to walk into most rooms on any difficulty and decimate the monsters easily. With the exception of D.Falz on V.hard, nothing should do too much damage to this character.?
If I don?t have a competent party with me anything Hard Ruins and beyond can be slow going for me. Especially on V. Hard where the enemies are fast, I can get off a spell or two and then I need to run for to the other side of the room and get off another spell and repeat many, many times. It can take me quite a long time to clear a V.Hard Ruins room. As far as damage is concerned if I get surrounded I can still be killed quite quickly, and the centaur monster in the ruins can still kill me in a single hit with its technique attack.
?? true level 100 guy wont' even have problem with dark falz on v-hard, I'm level 100 and I never die when I fight him......?
I?m _hoping_ that by lvl 100 I?ll be able to survive a single slash from V. Hard Dark Falz final form?s sword ;P.
So anyway, most of these criteria aren?t necessarily a good way to identify a gameshark memory-hacker. The one I do think is a pretty decent test is the knowledge of _basic_ game mechanics. I remember a while back I asked a lvl 100 Fonewm what his base MST was and it took me a few minutes to explain to him what I meant by my question and how to determine what his base MST was ;p.

I agree with Zephyr above. I doubt the game becomes a walk in the park for a lvl 100 guy. I also don't think too many people who cheat keep their characters for long anyway. Thirdly I have gotten to a point where I couldn't care less if somone is cheating as long as they aren't spoiling my fun. Still the fact is that cheaters have already ruined PSO a little by making us second guess every lvl 100 char we see. ::sigh:: oh well

I think probably the biggest effect cheaters have had on PSO is flooding the game's item economy with duped rares. There's no way to tell when trading with someone if you're getting a duped item or not.
This may not seem like such a big deal but what it does is change the uniqueness of your item -- since most rare weapons have photon modifiers and all have variable damages, in general, no two rares should be the same. But if the person you got yours from duped a dozen or so, your double saber could be identical to many others out there... and of course far less rare too.

I have a legit Lv. 100 character, and I also get sick of being called a cheater, but if people keep it up then I just find another group and offer no help or items to the whiners. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif Their loss.
Some of this "cheat detecting" stuff doesn't make much sense. It doesn't take too long to hit level 100 if you play online and get summoned right to the ruins at each difficulty level. (I was very close at 100 hours.) You also do not get insanely powerful at level 100. I don't raise my Mags for defense, or equip defense-boosting armor reinforcing units, so most monsters in the V-hard Ruins can whip me in just a few hits, especially since their critical hits are so powerful. I use a Flowen's sword for its luck-boosting capability, and prefer weapons which hit more than one enemy, so I don't do incredible damage per hit. I can also tell you that it's not that easy to find a double saber, I've only found 2 of them so far.
There are cheats which boosts your stats to (or far, far beyond) max, so the damage people do or take does not indicate that they are a cheater, unless they're doing 999 damage with a basic saber. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif
The item duping thing kind of sucks, but the photon efficiency of a weapon doesn't indicate that it's been duped. I've found a lot of rares with exactly the same efficiency, or odd kinds of efficiency. I had 8 Flowen's Swords and they were all 35% to machine or 30% to dark. Certain things seem to be more common.

When your a humar and get your defense up around 400+, you don't fall down when you get hit. Therefore, get stuck and can't cast resta.
I'm level 100 and this always happens to me. I don't keep trimates on hotkey since I use resta. The bad thing is, I usually charge in through the middle to grab all the monsters attention so others can kill them, then I get stuck in 3 delsabers... not fun, can't heal.
