if I have 2 character in extra mode, Can I transfer item between them?

Presumably there is a shared bank in extra mode just like in network mode.

Why would any of them be playing offline extra mode when they can play online instead?

Well, the point is .. I think that online server have a lot of problem yet, so I think when people can't online they will play offline. However, I forgot that they will choose Story mode than extra.

Sorry to break it to you, but there is no Shared Stash in offline modes. At least not in the Japanese release...here's to hoping

Yeah I also just checked, no shared bank. Extra mode copys nearly everything from story mode, so there are some weird mistakes, like having a photo of Ethan and his sister in your room

Yeah, that's pretty crappy, not having a shared bank for Extra Mode. =
