Requirements to obtain clothing?

I've found two clothing stores thus far but have been unable to purchase new clothing items in the offline story mode. Is there a requirement that needs to be completed first? Or is it just something that will be made available as I complete more chapters?

Actually, he does. You can buy clothes later, chapter 6 I think.

Once I get the US vers., I can't wait to play story mode.

As soon as the story mode let's me, i'm buying new Ethan new clothes;
as I'm really *not* found of the white shirt w/white pants he's got on...ugh.

I want to get some sleek black threads for Ethan, then he'd loook less like an O.C. county pretty boy *yargh*...

Just out of curiosity, my games on the way atm but I'd just like to ask. Online is it possible to buy clothes from the starting set. For example, I want my character to have a certain set of clothes when he starts, but then when I change them I want a pair of shorts that you can select from the start.

Is that possible?

To clarify, can you buy any of the basic starting clothes later on?

I think you can just go to the dressing room in My Room and swap it. I believe you only pay for new clothes.

if I'm not mistaken, I remember that you can change what Ethan wears in the story mode, and it looks different in the cut scenes as well.
