A few days ago i saw some posts about lag... and i was wondering what RAM everyone has and what would be ideal hardware for no lag at full graphical settings... besides resolution http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

We've only had 50 or so topics that would answer that question.

Here's one that's still on the first page: http://www.pso-world.com/viewtopic.php?topic=118180&forum=20&51

Lag is caused by network issues, not RAM or CPU. Low FPS is not 'lag'.

I heard that 1 gig of RAM is highly recomended.

Just a quick question, I would like to run PSU at full settings, do you think a AMD Athlon 64 3200+ can run it at full settings or should i get a X2?

You don't need a $1000 Intel Core Duo 2 Extreme to run PSU. I can run Oblivion fairly well with an Athlon XP 3200+. An Athlon 64 3200+ will be more than fine for PSU, assuming the rest of your PC is up to snuff (i.e. RAM and videocard, mainly).

And I was the one who highly recommended 1GB of RAM. =P But really, no one who wants to do gaming on their PC should have less than 1GB of RAM anymore.

Lmfao you said PS2! i didnt mean a core 2 duo, i meant a AMD Athlon X2 which go around 200 dollars now, and i beleive the rest of my PC is fine, i built it to run PSU!

Hm? Did I? I don't remember saying that. And ignore that little thing at the bottom of my post, I certainly didn't edit it to cover up something silly like saying PS2 instead of PSU... *cough* >.>

Anyway, @ Tankster: a 2.4GHz what? Clock speed alone doesn't mean much. What make and model of processor is it?

@ Inu_Shadi: I know you weren't talking about the Core Duo 2 Extreme specifically. Bottom line, you'll be more than fine with your Athlon 64 for running PSU, especially with that 7600GT in there.

That CPU would be fine but it's not just the CPU, you need a decent video card and ram as well, as already stated 1 gig of ram is reccomended but 512 mb is fine, I'd reccomend at least a radeon 9800 pro.

Lol! Well my old PC wouldnt be able to run it, do I dare tell you the scary Specs of it? YES I DO

384 MB PC130? Ram
1.2 GHZ Amd Athlon
120 gb hdd
ATi Radeon 9550 AGP (ran at 4x)

but before i upgraded it this is how it was

128 MB PC130 RAM
1.2 GHZ Amd Athlon
20 GB HDD
S3 Embedded Graphics

*cringes*

The only reason i updated it was to play PSOBB http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif it still liked to lag on normal graphics mode sometimes.

To put it simply, no.

Kindaichi

Sep 4, 2006, 02:16 AM
Ignore Nekomimi. Your system will run PSU PC just fine. Even at normal settings.

You'll most likely have to run it at 800x600, though... but if you're lucky, possibly 1024x768! Normal settings has a frameskip of 1 and I'm 100% positive the X600 will be able to achieve 30fps with PSU on this game.

Cross
Sep 4, 2006, 02:21 AM
Uhh... That looks like it'd run the game alright to me. I mean, you'd have to turn some settings down from maxed and I probably wouldn't push it past 1024x768 or 30fps, but it's well above the minimum requirements and people are playing with weaker systems than that just fine.

Kindaichi
Sep 4, 2006, 02:26 AM
TY, you have restored hope!

Nekomimi
Sep 4, 2006, 02:33 AM
He said it was 'cheap'. That likely means cheap components. Bad RAM, and the video card is likely PCI.

Did I say he COULDN'T run it? No, I did not. What I said was he can't run it WELL, and he can't. If you can't run above 800x600 at 30 FPS, you're not running it 'well'.

watashiwa
Sep 4, 2006, 02:37 AM
AGP was out 3 years ago. I don't think a computer running a Pentium III 3.0ghz is running a PCI video card either.. at least... it wouldn't make sense, lol.

A 3.0 ghz processor with a X600 will be enough for 800x600@30fps.

Kindaichi

the graphics card is nice, processor is okay, RAM is OK but you may want an upgrade to 1 GB of RAM to be safe... unless you choose xbox 360 version.

with that 1 GB of RAM you could probably run it at full graphics quality but not a really high resolution.
