I'm surprised no one is really choosing PS2. I'll have you guys know that the 360 servers will probably not be linked to PS2 and PC. Not to mention I don't think THAT many people will buy it. Which means a almost lag free experience for you guys...but almost no one to play with lol

Chaobo99
Sep 4, 2006, 10:20 PM
The ps2 will have alot of lag due to the fact its connect server with PC players. I still hope you guys enjoy!

For all you PS2 or Pc players..If you see Zerdo can you say War says hi?

But it may include international play, with other X360 systems, no? I might be joining the new crowd, but only if the reviews are good.

unless this game is like wow and u need 40 ppl to raid...high pop isnt going to be necessity...

sick of ppl choosing just because of population...i play on 360 because of the experience...wanna relax on the couch while i play on my huge tv...not hunched over this tiny screen...

i could choose any of the 3, and 360 is the best choice...

I think 360 will have a lot of people online. About half of 360 owners have Xbox live and almost every game on live has tons of players and plenty of matches to be found. I think the game will do very well! ^_^

lol another one of these topics but hey whatever, i decided to go 360 since i got the system and my ps2 is no offical gone. well even though their wont be many people on th e360 i have a feeling everyone might end up knowing each other which might make this a good system to play on. also anyone else read about the 360 having no pay fees. i have a feeling this is a rumor. but has anyone else read this.

Hey, it's better than playing by myself. This will be my first, real online play. My one friend let me play, back with DC, with my own charrie, but he took the controller right in the lobby, and would say to the others, what I wanted. I was pissed.

Sep 4, 2006, 10:34 PM
Well, no one I really know actually has a 360, other than me....so I'm going with PS2...or maybe PC.

I put it on reserve for PS2, but I can change it at any time so that's all fine and dandy

This again?

X360 for me.

As for the community, I'm becomming more convinced that it won't suffer like X180's PSO did.

This is the type of Online RPG Xbox needs, not a four year old port of a game where you spend hours arguing with another guild about what time you can get into dynamis >.>.

PSU is perfect for X360, hell its an action game, and thats all we're playing on this machine anyways =P.

PS2 ftw, baby! There's gonna a gigantic user base for PS2's because:

1) Way more PS2's than 360's.
2) We get to play with the PC crew... Last I checked the 360 crowd are on their own. Maybe because of the voice chat?

Meh, winning isn't everything! We haven't even seen the tip of the PC population represented.

Even if the 360 becomes the most popular it won't matter much because being by itself you'd expect it wouldn't have the highest server populations.

This poll won't reflect even PSOW's population if it doesn't get a few hundred votes anyways so, even when there are more votes, lets not credit the statistics much, eh?

I'm surprised to see 360 on top right now...

I will be playing on the 360 as well. I was going to buy a used PS2 just for this game, but I guess I won't have to do that now.

As far as the monthly fees go, I'm kind of hoping that there IS a small monthly fee. This will keep out most of the riff-raff...

I have chosen the XBox 360 simply because of the VGA connection it has. I don't have a PC and the PS2 just won't do it justice for picture quality, especially since the PS2 doesn't have a VGA connection option and, last I checked, it was near impossible to get one.

Oooh I can't wait. It's been since the days of the Dreamcast since I've played PSO. Still, do this day, my favorite game http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

There should be a conditional in the poll. Will you 360 people really wait if it's not released simultaneously w/ the PS2 & PC versions?

In regards to the release date, it's worth the wait for the 360 if it comes a bit later. But I have a feeling it won't be too long after if not on the same date as the PC and PS2.

I think I will wait if the 360 release date is less than 3 months later than the PS2/PC version. Anything longer than that and I'll have to consider purchasing a PS2 or upgrading the ol' PC. Since the servers aren't linked, 360 players won't be behind PS2/PC players. I do hope they are all released simutaneously, but I doubt that they will, given the fact that the Japanese 360 version has yet to see a release.

Crys
Sep 5, 2006, 01:06 AM
I highly doubt it'll be more than 3 months. Even though Japan hasn't seen a release for the 360, keep in mind that the 360 is a US console. Usually games for the 360 are released here before Japan. I'm believe Japan will release the 360 version here the same time it releases it's 360 version over there.

As for the release date, isn't it October 24, 2006 for the 360 version? When I reserved it, they mentioned it was suppose to be that date. Anyway, don't want to get off topic here, one way or another, I'm patient for the 360 version - it'll be worth it http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif .

PS2.

PSU is practically made for PS2 so it will run perfectly on it.

and lag depends on your connection and other ppl's connection, it has nothing to do with the system of choice.

and all the media and videos we see, the PS2 already looks beautiful as it is. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

plus linking with PC, there will be some great communities to behold. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

also ppl shouldn't be fooled by the poll. it's not even a fraction of what truly represents the consumers out there for each system who will actually get and play this game online.

Xbox360 is still new and not everyone likes these kind of games, so that cripples its population on that system. more ppl are more likely to play Battlefield on that system than PSU or even FF11. the reason why the X360 version of FF11 is doing fine is because its linked to PC and PS2 and both Japan and USA. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Not compared to the PC version. Honestly the only thing the 360 version willl offer over the PC version is 16:9 ratio (presumably). Not worth it for me to buy a consoel that has absolutely no other game I might even consider buying. I'm also closer to the JPN time zone, which also means 360 is simply the worst choice.

i agree saner.
PSU was designed with the ps2 engine in mind, not the PC or the 360's.
and the only thing better that the 360 and PC might have over the ps2 is graphics and the mic (360 only, unless you have team speak on PC) and to be honest i rather have people type words then listen to them talk about stupid crap. on the xbox i got tired of hearing other people talk about this and that. most of the time (from my experience) it was about other crap other than the game. as with words you can ignore them without the sound, lol.

i'm not ditching the 360 though don't get me wrong, these are just my opinion, either take it or ignore it.

I'm getting both the PS2 version and the PC version. I'll probably play it on PC but I'll carry around the PS2 version so that I can easily play it online at a friend's house. Hooray for being able to use the same online characters in either version!

I'm surprised that the Xbox 360 version is winning the poll. If the Xbox 360 version ends up being connected to the PC and PS2 servers and I can access my characters from that version too, I might get the 360 version of PSU as well. I don't own an xbox 360 and I was never a fan of the original xbox but if the xbox 360 gets some exclusive games that interest me I might pick one up eventually.

I'd go for 360, mainly because by the time it comes out, hopefully all the bugs would have been iron out thanks to the early adopters (thanks PS2 & PC players)

Also I like the total integration of XBOX LIVE, easy friend lookup, other cool online games to play, voice comms etc.

Also my 360 is rigged up for Dolby 5.1 digital sound, HD TV etc.

Glasses. Now.

I'd like to get the 360 version, but most of the people I know will be on the PC, so my hands are really tied there.
That and I'm a little concerned about the reports of the game not running so well. Obviously it's true that a version of a game made months before its launch still has a lot of room to be optimized and improve, but it's also true that there's just such a thing as a half-assed port. I'm hoping for the former (whether I get the 360 version or not), but I still find it worrisome.

Though hell, if it weren't for the fact that you're going to have to pay a seperate fee for the 360 version as the PC/PS2 versions, I'd get both, even if the servers weren't linked.

SEGA has worked on all versions, i'm sure that any & all will be designed to work plenty fine - this is SEGA we're talking about here...at this point, it's a matter of preference.. i loved the many iterations of ps online, so moving to the next one demands a proper set-up - i choose the xbox360 for this; again, it's just a question of preference, i want faster processing & crisper visuals - is it wrong to say that?

rumors come & go..
but gossip will not change the game's reality..

What's all this talk about the servers being separate between the systems themselves?? All I heard was that the servers between the countries were going to be separate due to language barriers and other issues. I'm under the impression that we'll be all connecting to the same servers no matter which system we choose over here in the US.

Anyway, yes, what the 360 has that the PS2 and PC doesn't is the composite connection for HD quality. What the 360 has that is similar to the PC, for those who don't have a PC, is the VGA connection as well. PS2 is still running on RCA connections and the best you can get would be S-Video, which is nothing compared to HD or even VGA. If any of you still have the Dreamcast for PSO, you could easily see the difference when you change from S-Video to VGA. Much crisper, much cleaner graphics.

Playing PSU on PS2 would never look nearly as good on plasma as it would on the 360, no arguments there. It's Sony's fault for not releasing a composite or VGA connection kit in the first place. If they did, that would be a different story..

I'm playing the Japanese version right now on PS2 but I will be waiting in Gamestop for it to arrive on 360 on release date!

I'm going to say something that will make Saner happy now http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I have been quite outspoken about how ugly it looks on PS2 compared to PC and 360. And I havn't changed my mind because i think that good anti-aliasing and 720P as apposed to 480 makes a HUGE difference.

BUT havning played it quite a bit on PS2 I can say that PS2 owners will be plenty happy with how it looks. The character models are great and beside the anti-aliasing it looks pretty damn sweet. As long as you don't see it runnign on a 360 or PC (especially side by side) your going to be pretty happy with what you have on the PS2.

but for anyone who has the oppurtunity to play it on the PC or 360, they are easily the best choices. The only difference is if you want to play it on a huge Hi-Def Tv with voice chat or a PC monitor with keyboard chat (although 360 can do PC monitor and PC can do TV but it's a pain).

Despite a lot of doubt for X360's PSU I'm sure it'll pull through as a solid game. One thing I've noticed about X360's playerbase compared to that of X180's, is it isn't just a "fps console" anymore.

MS has been trying to get a wider mix of genres for this console and has been patterning off of Sony's approach with PS2 (with keeping exclusives and trying to make the system more than a console that NA players enjoy). I think if some people actually came on XBLive 360 instead of going off of what they experienced in one or two games on the previous system they'd notice the change.

I'm very convinced that X360's userbase will be a large one in light of the fact that most players on X360 have labled as not liking "these kind of games" http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

As for graphics, the PS2 holds it's own (still holding its own, Shadow of the Colossus anyone?) just like the PC and the X360 do. I think everyone needs to be worried about ST getting some of the major bugs with their servers ironed out and not how well the game looks on differen't platforms.

MMOs like FFXI belong on PCs and should stay there. PSU and PSO alike have always been fit for a console in my opinion. The gameplay and structure alone is the kind of game X360 needs.

Eclypse
Sep 5, 2006, 06:36 PM
There is no doubt in my opinion about the X3's version of PSU. People hated on PSO-X and lord knows that plenty of people played that game. PSU is in prime position of being only the 3rd RPG on the console and since people want RPGs on the 3, that will sell copies of the game on it's own merit. The real issue is ST, because if history repeats itself, they will be shite once again and not support the game like they do with every other incarnation of PSO that's come out.

Chaobo99
Sep 5, 2006, 06:46 PM
I would'nt worry to much, SEGA is known for making great games. Even if PSU had bugs. It's online we're talking about, they can easily fix it. As for Xbox 360, I have heard you can use any USB keyboard to play online..So that takes care of voice chat. Even though PS2 on PS2 have more people. I like my games balanced out and not have TOO many people. Then again, I'm worried about TOO less people, but as times comes more poeple will be intended to play (^-^). I just hope my friend goes 360 cause I'm gonna be on 360.

Component. Composite = RCA jacks. Component cables are the R/G/B ones. Also, the PS2 has Component output; that's what I run mine on, and you need it for the (very few) PS2 games that support progressive scan (which is all that the Dreamcast's VGA mode was). If you've got an HDTV, or at least one that supports progressive scan, the PS2 can look a little better than the Dreamcast.

The reason it's ugly is that the PS2 just isn't a very powerful console. It's stronger than the Dreamcast (despite the first-gen PS2 games looking worse than late-gen DC games), but it still lags far behind the Xbox and GameCube, let alone a modern gaming PC or 360.

Xbox's constant chat mode is what kills it for me. I think I fell in love with the original PSO because of the typing. No offense to the kid who has been playing PSO since he was 5, but those kind of kids are the very reason why I do not want to get it for X360... my twin bro said he would get it, I am going to judge it by watching him play. If the community is not running rampant with ignorant adolescents and your char's name is not forced to be your gamertag, maybe just maybe I will get it for the 360 as well.

Hey! I was never one of those kids. I hardly ever spoke. I mostly played. I only went crazy that one time we had a crazy contest =p. That's why I like the keyboard more (^-^). I hope there will still be people playing traditional keyboard. Its kinda weird if like 5 people spoke at the same time and you'd be like."WHAT? Which one of you needs help? One at a time please!"

lol... have'nt you played any Xbox games. Every single time I have played an Xbox game online that is what I get. So that is why my bro will be my guinea pig http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Hmm, personally I feel the game is so visual, text chat is harder to ignore than voice. Neither bother me enough to do anything about it though.

Meh..

Every online game has its share of immature players. Hell, I'm sure if DC had voice chat no one would've been willing to play PSOV.2 .

Just got to stick with friends or deal with it.

What I hope Sega does with X360 servers is utilize Live. Live's GamerZones are what pretty much sealed it for me, being able to be matched up with other players that share my interests; and the ability to file reports on players that didn't fall on the nice side, hehe. Also, there's the ability to drop a player's ranking score with yourself so it would lessen the chances of you two ever meeting up in any game again. There's Pro, Underground, Recreation, Family, etc..

Underground is where you'd find most of the immature types yelling and screaming at each other over nothing.

Recreation is where I go, just playing the game for fun, jump on for a bit then jump off.

Xbox 360 here http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

PC- only pc i have easy access to, i cant whore for long enough to really play psu
PS2- I'm imagining psu to be something like FFXI, play it on ps2, it's fine as fine can be, see it on a pc/xbox, ooh, pretty, but nothing too fancy, see them side by side though (ps2 vs pc/xbox) & ps2 burns my eyes http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Xbox, not sure what to expect regarding maturity/amount of players, but i appreciate that xbox is a newer console, hopefully meaning it'll last (not saying ps2 wont last, but mine is like, 4-5 years old, if psu last 4 years+ i don't think my already dieing ps2 can handle it x.x).

I'm just gonna hang out with friends...well in the bigining, I'm gonna be with random people..how else would you find friends...
I wish I can find Zerdo , too me, it won't be the same without him. I can't play on GC anymore cause I'm all set-up for the PSU on 360. I don't have an Xbox gamers tag yet....Do you need Xbox live for PSU or does Sega have its own type of server. Cause if so, then I don't need to sign up for Xbox Live Gold..=p

360 love http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Hell yea!!! I am still stunned because from the posts i had read earlier it seemed like the 360 community was going to be tiny but now its a definate i'm getting the 360.

a system that's winning a poll in a website that doesn't even make up 1/10 of the entire population that will get this game.

in reality I feel the population of consumers will be PC > PS2 > Xbox360.

then again PC and PS2 will be combined and therefore greater than Xbox360 so it's really PC + PS2 > Xbox360. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

so you really havev to remember PC and PS2 are linked so the votes really show:

Xbox 360 47.89 % (34)
PC 26.76 % (19)
Playstation 2 25.35 % (18)

which means:

PC + PS2 (37)

Xbox (34)

Well PSU will have less competition on 360 since the only other MMO (yes it's not an 'mmo' per say) that I know of on 360 is FFXI. PC and PS2 have more gamers already comitted to an mmo and unwilling to switch.

the same could be said about Xbox360 except the difference is that the majority of Xbox360 rather play games with no fees besides Gold,

and most rather play first person shooters and even offline RPGs than online RPGs.

who are the ones that even bring up complaints about independant server fees? most X360 people. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif

it's rather unexpected but good to see a lot of great posts in favor of X360 PSU, i know it probably won't reflect the actual consumer population but then, i don't think this thread was meant for that in the 1st place. It sure means more than just a number game on which verison is getting more votes.

As i look back on the previous posts, I feel kind of regretful for bashing ps2 version as inferior compared to pc/x360, and i'd like to apologize to all who might been offended by my comments.
I just hope ppl can understand my true intention was to help others see beyond the favored systems from the perspective as fan of PSU to truely appreciate the developer's innovation and possiblilties, and i admit it might not have come along as i intended out of frustration.

I wish PSU to be a big success on all platforms after overcoming the rough start on online launch, and i hope we all try to understand and encourage each other more to build a stronger fan base rather than wasting our efforts on arguing over our different opinions.

I really want to get it for the 360, but will have to get for PC since all my freinds are. The 360 Controller plus the fact that my 360 is right at my bed really sell PSU for the 360 for me. I'd go PS2, but I don't have the adapter to get online. All in all I hope Sega decides to link all 3 systems, and since nothing is finalized yet, it could still happen.

why is 360 winning? Do 360 owners have something to prove or something? The results so far are an unrealistic representation.

Should be a great version though, if the community is big enough and stays that way then it's the superior version IMO.

I have one but I'm still buying the PS2 version. Mainly because of the larger population. I'd rather play with more people than just the same ones over and over again lol.

I dont wanna be i n PS2 because ive heard that if PC's we're connected lag, may occur. Well. If everyone has broadband 8mps then its ok (^-^). But when it come to PSO, you usually play with the same people. I mean once you meet someone and they're cool, you'll probally always email them =/

PS2/PC for me. PS2 and PC will, without a doubt, have bigger communities then the X360 version.
