Official word from Clumsy. (http://boards.sega.com/psobb/viewtopic.php?t=72286&highlight=&sid=23de1eefcb046620a821ad57b01d8f57)

And the official English PSU site. (http://www.phantasystaruniverse.com/index.php)

So I guess this pretty much confirms the 24st of October...

Discuss.

Hm. The site lists Tomokazu Seki and friends as the voices for each character.

Chances are that it's just basically a rush-job translation, and we've already seen some of the game dubbed, but maybe there's a chance at getting the original voices in. I hope so; I really like the original cast.

Yeah, I didn't even realize it till today, but the Japanese VA cast is pretty much a who's who of Japanese voice acting. A ton of voices in there that I recognize and they've all done a great job with their characters.

Yes that website is very well done. I love the interface and it's very pleasant on the eyes! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

the brand new english screenshots are EXTREMELY soothing seeing all the menus and text bubbles in english and all. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

overall I'm very impressed by that official website. It's very very informative for a english website that has recently launched. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

hmmm, I notice through the media section there is pictures of the online mode and stuff are already translated...so could that mean a nearing closed/open beta? or are they doing internal testing like what was done in the JP version.

Also, it's the 24th not 24st.

well it's a nice thought if all 3 systems get it at once

but they didn't start working on the Xbox360 version until practically almost two years after the PC and PS2 versions started development (I think in an interview, they said PSU is 3 years in the making and X360 didn't come out until late last year) http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

Natrokos
Sep 6, 2006, 02:12 AM
But they may have shifted a higher portion of designers over to 360. Plus having already done so much for the pc and ps2 versions it wouldn't be as hard to make it compatible for another system in my mind. Like raising your first character to lvl 10 then having to redo it, you know the mistakes and what to do it makes it easier....But hey, if it doesn't release exact day that's the price to pay for having a new system.

You don't make a game from the ground up when you port it from one platform to another. All of the art assets, basic game mechanics, network code, etc would all be ready to go. You'd just have to basically rewrite the technical parts of the engine in terms of rendering the game, interacting with the features and quirks of the hardware, and things like that.

Which isn't to say that it's something necessarily easy, but it isn't anything major compared to originally producing the game on a different platform.

i wouldn't mind waiting for X360 version for one more month than other versions if they can make it perfect with all extras in.

Also, N.American server launch for ps2/pc will not be flawless in the 1st month eventho it could be much better than JP's was, so no need to be so impatient on getting the game so fast.

In a recent post in the announcements section of the PSOBB.com boards Clumsyorchid announced that the US PSU website has been updated with new media and a long awaited date. October 24th will be the day we all pull a sickie from work just to get to grips with Sonic teams latest.

Other information from the official site states that you can now login to Segas billing site and create your PSU game ID. Good news to PSO:BB players is that your current Saga ID will be valid for PSO:BB and PSU so no multiple accounts to worry about.

Ah, coolness. Pretty nice promo site that is. nice pics. Makes me want to play it, today, right now.

I do wonder if it's at all possible to *name* weapons made via Item Synthesis.... hm?
would be cool if players could.

I'll have Path of Neo, Grandia III, Okami, Final R-Type, and Devil My Cry III SE to tie me over until Oct 24th.

I'm mainly going to play Okami a lot, and trying to finish up Grandia III before PSU is out in the US....

Okami is such a fantastic game, one of the few that *can* take my mind off of PSU.

I posted the answer on another topic, but anyways most Official Dates that are put on gamesites and the like are the shipping date so the West Coast of the US will most likely get the game on the 24th, while the East Coast will probably have to wait till the 25th to get it.

Actually I haven't seen anything horriblely wrong with the voice acting I've seen so far. Where they can put that kind of option mostly depends on how much space is left on the disk by the time they do everything else. Voices and such take up quite a decent amount of space.

I think they just meant cut-in chat. Personally, I'm glad the chatting is still text-based, as true voice chatting is not my idea of fun.

Agreed! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

If online RPGs were voice chat only, they would be quite empty online. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

I second that. If you people heard my younger brother shout all day, you would kill yourself just attaining lvl2, lol.

If it was voice only that would suck, I am like 50% deaf i'd probably miss a vital instruction and end up getting myself killed.

Wow, that sucks to hear, dude, http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif.

However, you have to admit, in some cases, voice chat makes things alot easier.

But PSU isn't the kind of game to really need voice chat.

I think most of the online population in MMOs are scared of their voice being heard.

Too bad.

Edit: I understand why everyone is so against the thought of voice chat but its really a lot more helpful than it is a flaw to gameplay.

There are some exceptions though, which is why I only do voice chat with friends or members from guilds. Besides that, I see voice chat being a big part of PSU during battle. Would be a lot easier than dropping your controller during a boss fight to run to a safe spot and type some tactics about killing it.

Text chat, I think, is still good but more for lounging situations; in the lobby chatting about, etc..

Solution: Hold controller in one hand, and use the other hand to type.

No thanks.

Now, if you can control the character with the keyboard then thats a different thing.

Still voice chat has its benefits.

And if someone's bothering you, mute them.

Voice chat isnt my thing either. Just causes to much crap. Like on yahoo messenger ever one usualy just talks crap. I havent played psox so i dont know how they work the voice chat. But i did play halo 2 alot and there was nothing but crap talk and immature little kids yelling and screaming. So i prefer not to have voice chat.

I say leave Voice Chat features for any other game genre. Hearing people voice chat in an MMO is nerdy.

well for these games, voice chat really ruins the the atmosphere.

With voice chat, you are no longer in Gurhal Solar System, you're in some virtual internet cafe with photons and monsters. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif

if you need voice (and you're playing the PC version), you could allways use Teamspeak or xfire chat or something similar.

and YEA! a release date. now the final wait begins. hope to see some old friends upon my return. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Voice chat...I dunno why, but talking to my computer is just weird. I can't even use Skype without feeling awkward, especially when the guy on the other line is just talking up a storm and your like..."uh huh...yeah...ok..". Even worse, someone wants to talk and they don't talk through the entire duration of the session. WTF?

I guess I just don't like to take the time out to type if I have the option just to say it.

Meh.

Whatever medium it is, its still PSU =)!

For me its the total opposite, talking makes it feel more real then typing lol. I hate typing, in most of the mmo's i play i use teamspeak. Voice chat makes everything so much more personal....I love seeing the tiny little girl force have a huge manly voice http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I feel the same way as you do. Their fucking billing system with Blue Burst is ridiculous. And to top it off they tried to claim that I was using Credit Card fraud, when it was my own card. I hope they get stuff sorted out by now.

I'll never understand why some people feel the need to bash voice chat. I mean, hell, you can still stop for a minute and spit out garbled words if you feel like it. Just like typing! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif Seriously, though, I'm sick of the lack of grammar these days. If I wanted to try and read the garbage so many people spit out, I'd... Well, I'd probably be heavily medicated.

I like Voice Chat. I mean, you don't have to deal with as much broken english, unless of course you're talking to someone to whom english is not their first language. Even then, though, it's not that bad. Certainly better than "wat r u doing", or some other such dribble.

About the release date... I guess it's cool. I mean, it's nice to know when it's coming out, but... It's still a whole month off! Arg... http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Another good thing about voice chat is that you can have a conversation with people about other things to help pass the time while doing multiple BORING runs for rares....and if we REALLY don't want to voice chat, we can still get a keyboard...best of both worlds!

I personally like voice chat. Once you get out of the ANNOYING yelling people in the lobbies and get your party together, it's nice to talk while your questing...plus if someone gets too annoying, you can just mute them.
