hi i'm pretty new here but something struck my mind and i can't shake it. i was wondering, since i'm getting this for ps2, i heard there were some framerate issues with PSU on PS2 and instead of watching videos to get my own opinion i'd figure i'd ask people who have actually played it... so here's the question..

how is the framerate on PSU on the PS2?

any feed back would be great. thanks.

After playing the PS2 version extensively, there are most definitely a lot of slowdowns.

In offline modes, the game runs smoothly in the beginning when you have a relatively small party. But once you advance to planets such Neudaiz, framerate issues become much more apparent.

In online mode with a party of 6, your framerates will pretty much plummet to single digits anywhere during combat.

I am waiting for my PC copy to arrive now http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_bash.gif

Edit : Whoa, missing words

hmm we'll just have to see for ourselves how the framerate really is online. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Maybe because he's playing on Japanese servers? Should be better when the NA servers are up...

hopefully the "framerate" drop on the online mode was actually more lag than framerate but i guess we'll see. i don't see why sega would make a game designed for a system that will end up haveing framerate problems. it doesn't make any sense.

For sure. Remember how fast and fun the combat was on the DC on a 56k? It should be fine. I'm getting freaked out because I'm buying a PS2 tomorrow just for this game, lol. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

^ You're buying a ps2 JUST for this game? You do intend to buy other games for it right? >< At LEAST until PSU comes to NA.

lol, i guess you could say i did that too. i bought a PS2 with PSU in mind and the only other game i got for it was FFX. now i'm worried (for some reason) that my new ps2 might break before the release of PSU. so i was considering wrapping it up in bubble wrap and sticking it in my closet until the realease so it will play like new i guess.

I have only reached Chapter 3 so far and have seen no FR issues, But as Unknow_PC says the frame rate issue's are later in the game. I will happily keep you posted. I'll even post a video if no one does it before me.

No problem, I might end up playing extra mode though as soon as I unlock it. Not sure if the framerate issue's accur before Chapter 5 or not (finishing 4 unlocks extra mode).

I mean like change the textures or quality in options setting like for all PC games.

Nah, you cant.
All console games are like that not just PS2.
Although you were on the right track.

Afraid not RoboKy. They never include settings like that in a PS2 game.

Nice... I'm actually going to just build another PC for this game instead. I used to play PSOBB and just thinking about how awesome that looked on PC has made me rethink my platform choice. Time for a new PC anyway... http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

...frame drop and slowdown are two different things. It slows down so that it WON'T lose frames, thus the PS2 version suffers from slowdown and NOT frame drop. Oh it's true, it's true.
