About the Party In Extra Mode..

my question is, is do you have to take a party with you in extra mode or can you go by yourself?

Im sure you can just do it solo. The party is just ther to make it feel like you are online. Any of you importers know?

You can play by yourself, or use the Partner Cards you gain in Story Mode to take along NPCs with you. Up to you.

Do the NPCs come at a set level for each mission? Or does their level progress as yours does when they kill things?

*Also, in extra mode do you HAVE to go on a mission? Or can you just go out there and play a stage? (unless the stages literally are just missions)

I believe you have to choose a mission to play an area. But there are missions that aren't really different from free runs in PSO (i.e Play through each section of the area and fight a boss at the end.) I'm not sure why you would want to not do a mission anyway, since you are rewarded with job points at the end of each one.

in extra/story mode npc is always a set level compare to your level when joining the party.
such as
karen +3
nev +5
leon +3
maya -2 (or -3)
lu -2
and so on

u can't just "go to an area" as far as i know in extra mode, you have to go through the missions.
the missions are limited to the "free mission" u unlock in story mode
most of them are level restricted also

When you mean level restricted, do you mean that you cannot access Area C until you are atleast Lv.20 for example?

And once you are level 20 (for example), will you still be able to goto the first area(s) and goof around there as well? Or does each area have a level bracket ie: [1-5] then [6-10]?

I don't know, it's different from the PSO offline for once.
And the missions offline are diff from PSO too, I like both ideas
