The PlayStation 3 is launching this November. That much we can be sure of. But it seems very little else we know of PlayStation 3 is sacred. This week it was revealed that no HDMI cable will ship with the 60GB PS3.
The North American PS3 FAQ has this to say on the topic: "HDMI cable not included. Additional equipment may be required to use the HDMI connector."
This move seems confusing as the high end PS3 model's HDMI output was pushed as a key feature by Sony (the low end 20GB model doesn't have HDMI). HDMI is essential to get the highest image quality in PS3 games and Blu-Ray movies.
Those who wish to purchase PS3 on launch day get to look forward to another additional cost. But if you're already buying an HDTV and a PS3, the price of an HDMI cable won't seem so bad.
