My tastes range from the likes of The Decemberists, Beck, Radiohead to Pantera, Megadeth, and Slayer.

Still, I would not admit listening to most of those bands listed. I would lose my indie/metal street cred.

Word!

(Oh gawd, I swear that Pitchfork's reviewers have a secret hate of music)

Also, Evanescence is hawt. I have this opinion of about 1 in 1000 women, so take this seriously.

I've listened to and heard of more obscure bands than you. I am ultimate indie. If you don't listen to the same things I listen to, then your music is shit. And then if you DO start listening to what I listen to, you're a poser and I'll have to go out and find more obscure bands that probably aren't any good, but at least I'll still be cool because nobody's heard of them. And then the cycle repeats until Pitchfork Media tells me what's cool this week.

You have to understand that my musical opinion is far superior to that of anyone else's, because I've somehow deluded myself into thinking so. If you think people are allowed to listen to whatever they want without ridicule, then you my friend are completely wrong. You see, as ultimate indie, it's my job to criticize anyone and everyone's musical tastes even if nobody asked for it. If something you're listening to has been picked up by my keen elitist indie sense as being "bad," then you can rest assured that I'm going to let you know.

People seem to think music is a matter of opinion and what sounds good to your own ears, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. You see, I'm what you might call the Music Police. Even if what I listen to doesn't sound any good to you, it doesn't matter. The fact is, I know what good music is. I read all the handbooks and websites that tell me what's hip and underground this week so it is in your best interests to pay attention.

Love,
Music Elitist Extraordinaire

There are a couple of things in your post that I disagree with.

Metal does not always kick a thousand more asses. It is always personal preference that will determine the amount of ass-kickery.

Manowar isn't that great.

Killing a guy isn't totally metal, it's retarded. i don't care what his reasons were, he still shouldn't have done that.

3. Even though your 3 isn't directed towards me, I will say that Metallica did have much to do in ruining the quality of mainstream metal music; however, I cannot say to what extent MadEwokHerd worships Megadeth, or even if it is worship. Of course there were underground bands that did their thing well, but they were underground bands. Metallica nailed Metal on the cross, but Nirvana shot Metal in the face. I would also like to ask you if you even read the rant (http://www.metal-archives.com/review.php?id=547#147) that MadEwokHerd referred to and I posted?

4. Since this is FKL

1. I'm well aware that 1 and 2 were basically the same thing.

2. ....

3. Yes I read it and I disagree with it. I don't praise Master of Puppets and quite frankly I think it's overrated, but I don't think it ruined metal.

4. Go Danzig

5. Let it go. This is FKL and the post was meant to be humorous reference comedy. But whatever.

Yes, I realize that this is FKL, and no post should ever be taken too seriously, but I felt like making a point. Whether you see my point as overly serious or not is not my problem. I personally don't believe that I was being to serious. I still haven't gotten 100% used to the humor of FKL. I haven't spent enough time here relative to time I have spent in other forums where humor can't be as funny without breaking rules. I think I may have gone a little to far when i picked out the points that I didn't like from your one post, but I will still stand by my belief that killing a person is NOT metal. It's that type of talk that gives metal a bad name.

I know, and I agree. Just like the Norwegian church burnings.

I wouldn't actually advocate any of that behaviour, I simply was making a joke.

Yeah, I understand... but there are people like phongi out there. People like that don't know a joke from a fact. I wouldn't be surprised if phongi read that and killed a local McDonalds Cashier because he it would make him metal.

I happen to love the music Dave Mustaine makes. I'm not afraid to admit it. I hate Metallica. I always have and I always will. I don't care if that makes me a Megadeth fanboy or not...I just love the music.

And since you made a joke, I'm making one.

How many babies does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
I don't know. I always eat them before they get a chance.
