I submitted this as news yesterday but it hasn't shown up so maybe I did it wrong. Anyway here's the source
http://www.xboxic.com/news/1578 Looks like that orange lounge radio or whatever it was called was lying the whole time.

No surprise here.

I didn't belive it from the start. Think about it.

I know 360 users pay for their membership, but that's to use MS features. If Sega allowed free online gaming for 360 users, then they lose out. Microsoft wont share that 50 bucks a year they get from there player base, that's for sure.

So in essence both Sega, and Sonic Team lose out on whatever they charge a month to the players. That's a BIG lose, and not a good business move, in my opinion.

This is my point of view, nothing else. Although I belive this is the case.

I thought it was feasable that 360 might not have to pay a monthly fee after all, updates could have been paid for through the marketplace and Sega would have sold a lot more copies if they'd used this strategy.

I just hope Sega don't use the marketplace on top of the monthly fees... they will recieve something rather dangerous in the mail if they do. ;D

****! I might just have to go with the PC version. ..

I'm not spending twice the normal value of a HL just to play psu on the 360. Gears of War better be ****** amazing online otherwise i dont see any purpose in owning a gold membership

I didn't believe it much either, just a petty rumor for 360 owners to get their hopes up, XD.

Although, I have to admit that the rumor was well founded. Hey, we're already paying for online service, why do we have to do it two more times, now?

I don't see why people are so shocked to see you "might" have a fee to play this game. PSO had a fee and prior to the game being release there was much speculation and rumoring just like whats happening right now with PSU. If you want ot play the game for free then hop on the PC or PS2, and if you want t play on your 360 then get ready for a fee. No need to pout about it, you have 3 options to run with so choose which one suits you best.

If the rumors are true about all 3 coming up on 10/25 then I will be running with the 360, but if the 360 version won't come until November then I will just buy the PC version until the 360 version comes out.

I am choosing computer because the PS2 has a big strain with Single player, XBox 360 was buggy and the double fee. so i am stickin with computer for now unless they find away to fix all of those problems.

Plus if they do what they did with blue burst for PSU with the 10 extra quick slots or what ever they will be in PSU i can see my self sticking with computer edition for quite a while

Yes, they're all three being released on the 25th. The stores have the official display boxes from Sega out on shelves. When they say Shipping Date, they mean the games are ready for that date and will be sent out on that date to arrive the next day. It's logic. If they were planning on releasing the 360 version later, they would have told us so, instead of saying "Here's the release date for just two of the versions. Xbox 360 users have to go sit in a corner with their thumbs up their asses and wait." They'd say otherwise if the games had different releases, because "The Battle Begins Oct. 24" is too generic.

It doesn't. I'll just say that you absolutely need a controller for this on PC. This coming from a guy who was pretty much all keyboard on BB.

It was horribly false from the start... SEGA HAS ANNOUNCED THAT YOU DO NOT NEED XBL TO PLAY... All XB360s come with a Silver Membership(Free) XBL... That is ALL that is needed.

If you didn't have a Gold Membership(XBLs paid services) then you would get free PSU... Not flying with that idea.

You're still paying for an internet connection, AND the game.

Just like the rest of us.

But I thinks its better. At least part of the money(maybe 10%-20%) they get every month goes to server clean ups and maintenance. Whats good is monthly fee includes new quest ,new eapons, and accesories fees (^_^)

people commenting on that site don't understand at all.
Yes, Sega will profit nicely. But personally, the sooner games like this fail on the 360 the better because we’ll soon see the likes of EA (especially) and others creating servers just to rake in extra cash. Before too long, you will simply be paying for the majority of games to play on line plus having to pay the xbox live fee. Still, I suppose it would waken up the single player market again.

They act like PSU is your standard online RPG, In normal online RPGs the developers just release the game and people run it on their own server while only their character data is stored on an official server, just like an FPS. PSU however is different, It is not a standard ORPG, It is actually an MMO just without the huge open environments. MMOs require major dedication to server management and that costs money.

There's only a fee from Sega. You will be able to use Xbox Live Silver to play this game which is free!

The only way you'll need to pay the extra fee for a gold account is if you want to play other xbox live games, so theres nothing to complain about. I knew this was false from the start, but if it wasn't I'd buy a 360 for PSU because a gold account is cheaper than PSU's fees. As it is im sticking with the PC version.

Controller is not necessary for PSU at all, lol.

Which is why I canceled my Hunter's Liscense earler today. They have officially killed "Jingle Bells". It's dead to me.

Just because you're delaying a new game doesn't mean you can forget the old one.

EDIT: I forgot. When I called 1-800-4MY-XBOX to cancel my HL, the guy asked why I was doing so.

"Jingle Bells."

"What?"

"That's why I'm canceling. I can't take that damn song anymore!"

He promptly finished the cancelation http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif
