While I was shopping I just noticed that there was no red X before the cane,
so I thought I'd buy it and try if I can use techs.. So after binding a tech
to it I went to an area and it actually worked. And no I'm not extra class
(I'm class lv2) and I'm not a force. I have to say that this is offline,
since I can't go online yet.. so what I want to know is can you use techs with
hunters online too?

Thats probably it, I've heard about classes being able to use certain weapons offline but unable to do so online.

We have said this before, Ethan Waber is a super character and has different abilities than online and extra mode characters.

Yeah Super Ethan has better abilitys, but I'm talking about Extra Mode http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif
So can anyone online confirm that you cannot use techs with hunters?

confirmed, extra mode still uses offline mode rules. You still create super characters with extra mode. Online mode is much more restrictive in the base classes.

Basically, Extra Mode characters have the same restrictions as Ethan. Which is to say, they're not all that restricted at all (at least when compared to Network Mode).

I can confirm it myself. You cannot equip a cane or rod online with a Hunter or Ranger type character, therefore, no techniques.

Offline, it's probably to make up for the fact that there is no multiplayer and the NPC partners are pretty stupid.

What kinda techs are there in PSU? Is it the same old Foie, Barta and Zonde?

You might not be able to use canes as a hunter or ranger online, but that doesn't seem to stop Leo.
Maybe he should be called Super Leo...

Beano, did you read ANYTHING in this topic?

Offline ANY CHARACTER can use a Cane or Rod... As well as Techs...

Online, ONLY FORCES (and some Expert Jobs) can use Cane or Rods + Techs.

I believe Beano's picture is from Network Mode. I saw Hyuga pull out a Resta cane yesterday while doing a Parum C run with a friend. In Story and Extra Mode, I've only ever seen Leogini use a Sword or Spear.

Deezas and Rendis (negating melee and ballistic attacks respectively), if they really do what they're said to do, sound like a cause of concern to me. I don't like the idea of someone (especially an enemy) simply casting a spell that negates damage. It's a lazy alternative to dodging or blocking.

I agree with you there, maybe its not a 100% negating thing though, because Im assuming all the spells have levels in this game, like PSO. So I would think that the chance of negating each individual attack is based on the level of the spell, the level of the person it was cast on and the enemy attacking them. Maybe our Japanese friends could tell us how accurate that is. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Perhaps it will be changed online, but I used level 1 of each spell, and they did stop the damage 100%. Although I admit they ate my PP like CRAZY and only stopped about 3 hits, they did stop the damage. I can certainly tell you it probably won't be worth spamming these Technics over and over, unless you could carry perhaps 1000 PP recharge items on you http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

There are skills like that in Ragnarok Online, they're useful but they dont unbalance the game, I doubt they will in PSU either
