In-Game teams.

Not sure if this has been covered[if so, lock and provide me a link please], but i was wondering what the status of creating teams [like the ones in Blue Burst] is. Are there teams, or do you just gather up 5 other people and play like in the original PSO?

It is more like the original PSO where you just "gather up" people. A formal guild/clan system does not exist in Phantasy Star Universe.

I'm glad theres no guild clan system.. they were never much fun on FFXI, usually clans build up a lot of drama

For immature people, maybe. I have a clan that plays several games and there is little to no drama. As long as you don't let it escallate, it never gets that bad.
