That trial shield is called "Wakaba" which basically means 'New Driver', make what you will of that.

wow! I know a character in Suikoden II called Wakaba! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif she fights with punches and kicks. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

There's also a character in Revolutionary Girl Utena named Wakaba. And who knows how many other Wakaba are floating around in anime, games and real life.

Also, the "new driver sign" is an object to roll up into a katamari. (Maybe that can help those who are having difficulty visualizing it.)

What about the sparklies/flashing? I forget whether or not they actually replace the shield doo-hickey... is it all an indicator of how much time you've spent in the game?

I'm also curious about the sparkly flashies http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif I never saw the orange giant ones on my RAcast, just the white ones, then when I made a new HUcast he had them.

According to PSU Wiki (http://psu.fei-yen.jp/wiki/html/A5CDA5C3A5C8A5EFA1BCA5AFA5E2A1BCA5C92FFAQ.html), the sparkly flashies determines your luck/fortune of the day. This will affect your chances of finding rare items.

In a party however, the party leader's luck/fortune will be applied to everyone else.

Thanks, Lina. Unfortunately I only know that I'm mistaken, and why, but not how. That's what I get for listening to mechanics.

Ah so now we gotta run around looking for someone with a sparkly by their name to be leader if we want a better chance at getting drops O.o;

Niki you're not wrong, you can use that other term instead of Wakaba http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

So.. that shield thing is like that little ? mark in FFXI when you first start out on a new character? That's what I understood from reading some of the replies here. Hn~ I might have misinterpreted it, though. xD;

Suikoden II, the best game ever made imo, and one of the hardest to find. Copies sell for over a hundred dollars on ebay last I checked, but I can't sell mine, no way.
