I'm really hoping so because i was a huge pso player back in the day on my dreamcast and gamecube. My ps2 broke and i'm getting a ps3 at launch and this would be an excellent title to get along with some ps3 games.

Well, seeing that PSU isnt out, and PS3 wont be out till whoknowswhen next year.. I can just make up an answer for you.

Um.. how about, well, if you manage to buy one of the few 300k units Sony is bringing over sometime next year for 600$+, it's crappy Bluray drive will spin to fast because of drive read failures and will cause the PS3 to burn and melt.

That would leave you no PS3 to play PSU on; So in short, no.

um theres a chance but who knows. PS3 wont come out for some time now so theres really slim chance of anyone knowing. i have a feeling well see all platforms connected before seeing PSU out for PS3.

The best possible answer we can give you is "maybe".

As of right now sony has put the ps2 HARDWARE into the ps3 (which was a dumb idea) and it will most likely play 99% of all games. 360 uses software to run xbox 1 game's which is why there not all on there. Extra hardware can lead to more power/more heat. And make a system cost about 100$ more. It will more in likely play it gureenteed. But in the end its a bad thing for gamers and that 700$ price tag. (tax on a ps3 = near 100$) But it will look the exact same and wont have any hd upgrades or anything.

Please leave fanboyism out of this, to me a ps3 is worth it so let's leave that to another discussion.

Back on topic, I know that the game will play but i'm not sure about the online part. I don't know much about networks but would the psu servers recognize ps3 hardware?

The hardware is irrelevant as far as networking is concerned. As long as the proper software is present (and the proper networking adapter), the PS3 will be able to talk to the network just the same as a PS2 could.

Im not a fanboy. Im gonna be getting a ps3 but im not paying 700$ for a console. Its just sad people will actually buy into the price just because it has a exspensive un needed blue ray dvd player. It will have must have games and ill get one once the price drop about 200$ (which shouldnt be long because sells will drop after 2006)

Oh thank you for that info Kyuu. I thought I would have to have to wait for PSU on the PS3 *If it does comes out for it*. But isn't the PS3 coming out in Nov. like the Wii?

It's not much to go on, but Nintendo stated on their website that the Wii will not take advantage of GameCube hardware such as the GameBoy Player, Modem and Network adapter. This pretty much rules out PSO V3 online when playing on Wii.

One could guess that the games are program to look for certain adapters when going online that that the Wi-Fi in Wii will not be compatible to bring Online GameCube games, well, online.

The same thing could be true regarding Online PS2 games playing on the PS3. When going from PS1 to PS2, some games that used special hardware would run on the PS2, but the special hardware would not work, leaving your game unplayable or partially playable.

You can pretty much gaurantee that all if not 99% of PS2 games will work on PS3 since it essentially contains all the hardware for a PS2 inside the PS3. So I would happily put $20 on PSU working perfectly on PS3

I hope they include some nice upscaling and anti-aliasing options too, kinda like they did with PS1 on PS2. I know the 360 does backward compatability through emulation but the games that work looks great when upscalled to a 4:3 ratio because the image is sharper and there are no scan lines!!

Games like Max Payne 2 that support 480P look really sweet on 360. But I don't think PS2 supported 480p did it? Shame. Either way let's hope for some nice backwards compatability options on PS3.

If I am correct all backward compatible games on the 360 run in 720p with the always working Anti Aliasing (thanks to the ED-ram) at least to me they looked very sharp.

The PS3 will come to the US and JP somewhere around november, and Europe won't see it until 2007.

Your entire post is pretty off-topic but...

Yes all backwards compatable games will work upscaled to 720p BUT I find that a lower 4:3 resolution but higher than 480 (to remove the scan lines) looks a lot sharper, butI use a PC monitor so you may only have 480/720 as an otion on HDTV's. Games that support 480p look a LOT better than running them on an Xbox on a TV.

Not sure why you listed the PS3 launch dates? Did someone request them?

Nope, but someone said November 17 (Creator of Topic)
Wich actually won't be comming till May 2007 or so. Or March, dunno, always confused those dates.

Why not get a 360 and a Wii and save yourself the pain and money? I'd get a PS3 if I was rich, but I don't have 600 bucks to chunk off onto blue ray technology which will most likely end up as defuct as the 3DO or CD-i. Too expensive to be an industry standard, or so I hear.

As the thing has an emotion engine chip and if the Linux is free enough, I can tell ya most likely yes and you shall be able to some slick things with it.

And as the hate here is extreme I'd say get it and try it out that's what I'll be doing.
What's this about Wii+360 ebign chepaer?! WAHAHAHAHAHAHA $250+$400 is $650 which is more XD.
It should work so just spring for it and then you can use the expliots.

It is confirmed that ps3 comes out in the u.s. 11/17. It's on their site and is common knowledge.

Judging from what I've heard and read about the PS3, you should be able to play PS2 games that use the HDD and/or network adapter. I'm not saying yes, but I'm saying that all two people who buy the things, are highly likely going to be able to play online PS2 games with it.

I thought I could go a bit offtopic, cause it was already awnsered: the PS3 will run PS2 cause the hardware is in it.

about the release dates, was because someone said the PS3 was coming in november, but europe won't see it till 2007, which is a big mistake, since the 360 is getting pretty populair with Saints Row, and alot more games that are coming this fall.

I think the PS3 is worth its money, eventhough it won't deliver much better graphics than the 360, but it does have build in wifi, blu-ray and an expensive processor.

Travisky, if I were you, I really wouldn't try it. Something tells me there's a strong chance you'll be disappointed...not in the purchase of a PS3, but for being able to run PSU on it. I havn't heard alot of info on the backwards compatability portion, so like someone already stated, all we can say is Maybe.

well i don't have a working ps2 anymore, my pc sucks and i don't feel like upgrading it, plus i'm already getting a ps3 and i really love the PSO games so I'll give it a shot. The worst that could happen is that i'll just have a decent single player action RPG.

k first of all the ps3 is going at $750. id be careful because sony is on the brink of collapse, believe me i read it in the official playstation magazine. on that note you can buy a xbox 360 and a nintendo wii for the same price of a ps3. its pretty clear what the best system to buy is(xbox 360)

okay it's been confirmed that the ps3 is 600 bucks for the premium and 500 bucks for the standard. Second of all, why would i want a wii and 360 over a ps3 if they don't have nearly the amount of games i want as the ps3. Third of all, sony is not on the "brink of collapse" if their ps2 sales are through the roof and psp is selling fairly well.

Seriously where do you guys come up with this crap? I ask a simple question about psu on the ps3 and you guys start spewing fanboy BS.

Wait a minute. Since when does a so-called official playstation magazine write that Sony would be on the brink of collapse? Where did you read such a thing? Somewhere in the toilet with a joint in the hand and sniffing on old paste? That's not healthy, I can tell.

If anything at all, this would be announced on TV at the news-channel at stock exchange reports and other stuff. We're talking about a world conglomerate that produces TV, high-tech stuff, gaming consoles, DVD players and all other jizz. This would be widely known long before...

I'd like to yes, it will most likley be able to go online with the ps3. Though it might have it's minor problems or it might not. Nothing that can't be fixed via patch from sony. That is if they look at what Micosoft is doing with xbox live. Go for it when the time comes.
