Im not shure if my laptop can run PSU (ASUS A3H, It can run WoW at least with a 15-30 frame rate -_-) so I'm concidering Getting it for PS2, but I hear it blows balls. Plus you can't take Screen Shots and I don't have a wireless adaptor for it.

What the PS2 version like? Is It Crap?

It'll probably run better on the PS2 if your laptop only runs WoW at 15-30...

Long story short -

No. It's fine.

it run ok on PS2 if you have 1-4 people on PT but if 1-6 sometime fps drop.
but it play 100%

No, the PS2 is horrible. Its holding the other versions back. Now we can't have 100+ monster events, and advanced physics and AI (in a hack-and-slash ORPG).

Seriously though. If you're not a graphics whore and can handle a lil frame rate slowdown everynow and then, then yes its A-OK!

But as many here are graphics whores, they make it look horrible. It'sa jsut fine in reality

What would make a version of this game 'blow-balls' ... framedrops? no voice chat?

As the haters. They are legion, they ave plenty reason. All for naught because ST Don't care. They prove it time and time again.

I don't care for graphics, but I do care for performance. I heard that the PS2 has longer load times and slowdown when the action gets intense, so I'll be playing the PC version.

Well at least I know the game won't crash my 360 if the PS2 will run it.

Im slightly spoilt by nextgen looking models and games, but I think for an mmo based game it seems pretty detailed to me, the fact the ps2 also registers and loads all the different face settings for a good 25+ players on the screen at once if you group together in a lobby, etc.

Is the only problem with the PS2 the slowdowns with 6 people playing at once??

McLaughlin

No, the slowdowns are from Chapter 5 and onwards, in Single Player. Multiplayer (from what I've read) can be like playing in "bullet time".

Eww >.< that sucks. I guess its to late to hope for changes to fix it, but wont let that stop me http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif I wonder how much of a slow down it is because I play FFXI on PS2 and its smooth imo.

FFXI is also 4 years old, and never has as many monsters on screen as PSU.

I've heard it's enough to seriously hinder your ability to play the game, but Saner and some others seem to think it'll be "cool".

Uhmmmmm i was doubtful of the PS2 version until i saw an Import Copy, For a ps2 game it rocks. and yeah it DOES slowdown OCCASSIONALLY but thats only when you have like 4 - 6 members on your party and over 9 enemies on screen so as i said, it OCCASIONNALLY slows down.

Now im not a fanboy or a hater, i dont even own a PS2 but to be fair it looks pretty good on the ps2 and from a techie standpoint the ps2 is a bag of crap nowadays technology wise. LOL

You only really notice the slowdown when its loading before combat (Say you see some monsters appear for the first time, it loads them off the disc) it jitters for half a second then its fine again.

Ummm... in FFXI you can have like 1 Frame/sec on PS2.

Besieged - 700 ppl scattered in Area, dozens of monsters, even tho you can see them on minimap many not even loaded cause of memory restrictions

Dynamis - usually around 30 ppl, if your pullers are shit you can easily have 20-50 enemies around you.

The DVD Drive loading like berserk ruins all the Lobby walking tho

this game was built for the ps2. the rest of us are getting boned because its garbage compared to other games on pc, they should have built it for pc/360 and dumbed it down for ps2, not vice versa. processor and ram never top 20% with all settings maxed- yea my machine is built for gaming, but i honestly see very little improvement graphic wise over BB.

Knowing this, you're on PSOWorld's forums on the Phantasy Star Universe board... why?

i already have the game so its not like i can get un-boned. plus theres still alot o stuff i dont know, tho the story mode is beaten (roughly 50 hours counting ALOT of idletime). games dont last too long in my hands and its a long wait till UT2007. i guess its kinda a good thing that i can upload @ 200, burn dvds, encode movies and use vent without the game skipping a beat, still i was for some reason expecting far far more.
its still a great game and all dont get me wrong, just obvious they spent more time looking at fabric swatches that making models, and if i wanted to play dress up i'd buy dolls not games.

I think your all missing the point,

I'm pretty sure Satan69 means garbage as in how it performs, not garbage in game content.

Rly sry:D but i dont understand the 'bullet time' term.

And I can live with slowdown, PSO had the same freaking thing on Gamecube, with 4players slashing away a bit too crazy of 10enemies in a room, it slowed down, CONSIDERABLY.
And also...this PC SUCKS, nothing can be worse than the frames on this PC, ask Cry0 >_>

If you don't accept the little mistakes in the game, you're not worth playing it

There should be no major difference between the PS2 & PC versions, except how you iniate your playing style.

If you really want to play the PC version badly, and don't want to worry about whether it's going to work or not, then buy yourself a real computer instead of using that shitass laptop you apparently have.

Otherwise, get the PS2 version.
