Ok, now I got everything working right. . . thank you for the help guys. I have one last question, how do you save progress in offline?

EDIT: also, the quick switch weapon, is that a toggle?

There are designated save points. Little floaty spheres.

Er, toggle? Do you mean you press it and it opens? By default you have to hold the menu button down, but I do believe you can switch it to toggle.
