View Full Version : Importers: Techs, do they 'play/feel' like PSO?

I just watched that Force video from the other post. I noticed that the techs don't really seem reminiscent of PSO...? Am I wrong? I know it was just a couple of techs used, but... I hope that ice tech wasn't Rabarta.

How do the techs in PSU compare to PSO? Do they 'feel' the same, like an evolution from PSO?

And if they've changed a little or a lot, how so?

Thanks http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

The tech in that video is actually Gibarta...
But what's really going to fry your goat is the fact that in PSU Gi level > Ra level
In fact, from levels 1-20 (what's available online atm), Ra- level techniques hit 3 enemies MAX.

Heh, Gi is better than Ra. I don't think that will be too difficult to adjust to.

Techs dont lock-on anymore, and are very slow to cast. It feels like a major downgrade really, except that they do excellent damage

It is unfortunate that you cannot remove your wand or cane in order to cast faster... =(

Couldn't you just switch to using your fist, I thought you could do that?

Aw, they added casting times? Like WoW...? No more lock-on? Wtf!

Oh well, I guess I should play it before I make any judgements...

Mass casting is noobish. Cheap. Stupid. Being a Force had NO challenge to it in PSO. They wanted to remove that little easiness and made casting times and no lock-ons.

In short, I find that it was a good move.

Nothing like WoW. There's just a long wind-up animation before the technic actually casts.

I don't think it was a good move. It was fun. Casting times might make it feel like the usual run-of-the-mill PC MMO's. I hope it doesn't.

The only thing that was noobish, cheap and stupid was the f*ckin' Spread Needle, lol.

Yea, but spamming huge freakin' techs like in PSU, things could go... haywire. The Spread Needle, though... *shudders*

Seems lke Force will be the hardest class to use, which is fine by me since not many people will use them. I'm up for the challenge of using one.

Don't think it will be hardest to use but some skills yeah maybe like to know when to use the right tech at the right time and not just cast randomly wasting magic, some of those tech will be AoE so guessing there wont be a lock on but there will be a good percentage to hit the enemy.

"Cast times" as in like you're casting Rafoie level 1. We're talking like 1.5 seconds max. As in regard to the lack of locking on, going into Caves 1 as a FOnewearl with Hildebear Cane, and Foie merge. Stand in the center of the room and hit your Foie six times and everything dies. How is that even fun?

Yes, I did this while farming Red Swords, for reference.

I know what you mean, but that's not entirely what I meant. I used a Force in PSO because I like the support spells as well (even though there wasn't many buff/debuff spells in PSO). I liked being able to walk into a new room/area, hit everything once so I got EXP, debuff all baddies and keep them frozen while all the hunters and rangers beat/shot the crap out of 'em, lol. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

It wont take long to get used to not haveing Auto-target.

That's true. No auto-target is fine by me.

Techs didn't lock on (as they did on GC PSO) on Blue Burst- at least not as well. You could throw a Foie, and it'd travel in a straight line when the only enemy was to your left http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

I like the sound of Forces in PSU, and looking at the list of Techs, I think they'll become even more valuable in a team (for the MST/TAP/EVP/ATA/ATP/DFP increasing buffs).

All else fails, my Beast's gonna be HU/FO http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif Inferior techs maybe, but I don't care http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

On pso gc that was the same for me. Foie just did a straight line, the only techs that were really that much lock on were zonde, grants and gizonde. The others were complete mayhem, you couldn't just use them like that, you needed some accuracy. But I suppose that the new system will be fun. I like Forces especially because you need more concentration to unfold their powers to the max state.

i may end up playing a force eventually just because i hate depending on others(why ask some noob for S/D when i can cast it myself?). but it depends if PSU ever degenerates to the point that Ultimate was on pso where S/D/J/Z were a must.

Zarbolord

I think S/D/J/Z will be a must as soon as B rank missions, by what I hear.

You can't attach any Photon Arts to your bare fist...

Well, you could try having the triforce of power, but I doubt you'll find it easily.
