They add stuff on weekends when it's "important." I've seen demos and some other things hit the market on weekends. So, i guess there's a possibility of a PSU demo during the TGS, but I'm going to lean towards probably not. A PSU demo right now would make for an excellent test of their servers (for example, the Test Drive Unlimited initial demo was meant as a test, and when it didn't go so well, the demo was taken off Live until it was redone a few weeks ago).

I love 360, don't get me wrong. Windows Media Connect allowing you to stream off your PC to your 360 is probably my favorite option...but the severe lack of games is deadly. Also, since 360 PSU is seperate from ps2/pc, I decided to go ps2. Lots of my friends will be on it and I don't wanna 'start all over' with PSU.

I don't expect Sega to put a demo on the marketplace. I reckon if they will that it will be after the release of PSU, to get the non-phantasy star fans on the game.

Even though i do not expect to find a demo on marketplace. I have to admit that i am checking every day, every few hours to see if it might be there.

Normally i only check for dl content once a day. As my experience here in the netherlands is that they mostly only upload dl content about 10ish in the morning. But now with the TGS and the X06 that is different. They are uploading dl content every few hours. So my hopes are up!

So please Sega and Microsoft give us what we want.
Give us a demo of PSU!

At least with the demo (because as you all know, we in europe have to wait till 24 nov for the release) then i will be able to have some sort of Halloween on PSU with my friends.

well I dont think demo will be released after the 24th because since it's said to have a online demo included, which would be equivalent to a beta test, which should start weeks before the full version release date.

Well Demo's get released at all kinds of times.. Lost planet, TDU demo's and some others got released months before the actual game comes out. Saints Row, N3 and Dead Rising came a few weeks before those games got released. Yea it would be a massive toll on the XBL servers with all these people downloading a free beta/test/demo of the multiplayer. If it's single player only, I don't think it'd be that big of a deal, but if it's multiplayer too, more people would be interested on top of a larger file size. I'd like a free test at multiplayer just as much as the rest of you, but a single player demo seems more plausable (sp?). If you recall the XI started in late Jan. - early Feb. and the game didn't come out till May (though the beta ended a bit before the release) so I don't really see them doing this, you can only test so much in less than a months time-span. It would seem like wasted resources, not to mention from what I hear PSO on Xbox didn't get much support from ST.

And for those constantly checking the marketplace, generally any new gamerpics, themes, demos, or anything of that nature gets posted on Majornelson.com as soon as it comes out? I think he's got it like on a timer or somethin so that when it's suppose to be out it updates his blog automatically.

So far, Sega has released demos of all the games they published in the West for 360 onto the marketplace. Condemned, which was a launch game had the demo available at launch IIRC. Full Auto and Chromehounds had demos available about a month or so before they released. Sonic the Hedgehog is confirmed to get a demo released either during TGS or X06.
Based on that track record, I'm pretty confident that the demo is coming.

PSU isn't being shown at TGS but I heard that the expansion pack thingy is being shown I can't remember what its called.

Everyone is ****** at majornelson about the lack of demos from TGS but majornelson insisted there is plenty to come next week.

They already stated there'd be over 100 new items up for download throughout the tokyo gameshow and my guess is that we've only received about 15-20 pieces so far.

the camera angles are nasty and its just random platform to platform jumping until you reach a "goal".

I think there's only two enemies in the entire level!

Just played the sonic demo, it's not too bad, but far different then previous sonic games, there was enough enemies to go around, but wow is the camera a bitch, you actually need to work with it to get things done, it's unlike older sonic games where you pretty much just slam on forward, and use the homing attack to go wherever you need to, things can easily fail now if you aren't careful.

Either way, very fun demo, i just hope the full game is a bit more, "Complete" feeling.

Fingers crossed for a PSU demo, because this would be a perfect time to release it.

And SEGA (and Sonic Team for that matter) have already stepped up to the plate for X'06 demo's (with Sonic and VT3 trailers) maybe they have more in store. They wouldn't release 2 on one day, and Sonic is the higher profile game (because people are idiots!).

Love Sonic though and I look forward to playing the demo as it's a game I am bound to buy, I think the Wii Sonic will be more fun though.

I got my hopes up with Sonic ;_; other than that it's just been a bunch of crappy FPS games. I'm really starting to get sick of single player FPS. I enjoy multiplayer FPS only because its fun killing others ;0

Well, I think we were expecting a little bit too much. TGS is an event solely for Tokyo, we just crash their party. Most of the good shit has been released to Tokyo only, and this year's TGS was extremely lack luster. Possibly the only games I was anticipating afterwards was DMC4, Lost Planet, and Project Sylpheed.

the sonic game was the slowest fast paced game i have played in a while. now i know its not complete and all but still, a big let down 4 a sonic fan like me... the grinding took no skill and random ishaps would cause me to die. the camera i really did not have a problem with until i tried to use the paning. it took me a good 6 seconds to rotate the cam 90 degrees around sonic -_- but if when it comes out it controles more like SA1 and 2 (and notlike shadow the hedgehog) then ill be happy.

and maybe they are not showing PSU on purpouse for some reason -_-. but i do wanna get my hands on a demo fast!

The E3 build was actually a lot faster; blistering speeds and had a bit of a blur effect. This demo is suprisingly slow (Sonic's speed). I hope they bring it back to what it was.

that demo was slow because there was a lot of platforming involved, which forced players to slow down otherwise they will fall.

the grinding was fine, if it was harder to grip those rails the game wouldn't be nearly as fun using those (remembers the hell that is Jet Set Radio).

From what I understand, Sega wanted to return Sonic back to the linear format the 2d games were about (Run from goal, to end). If so, I'd be disappointed to see the free-roaming stages from SA 1 and 2.

and will bring back the multiple paths Sonic Heroes had.

I'm really dissapointed that Microsoft have not been plugging PSU more, I know it's hardly a showcase for the system but it is HUGE RPG coming to the platform from Japan, they didn't even mention it at TGS!

I was very dissapointed in the Sonic demo too, I am a HUGE fan of Sonic Adventure so I was really looking formward to this. The controls just don't feel anywhere near as good as Sonic Adventure. Too much instant death because the camera is akward. Seems futile but I hopr they fix it before the release.

X06 is probably ignoring PSU because:

* the relationship between Sega and Microsoft based on the separate online fee, server isolation from other systems, etc.

* Sega's possible situation where the servers for even a demo beta are simply not ready for Xbox360 yet.



IGN's X06 list does have PSU listed but maybe IGN added it to the list themselves instead of confirmed if PSU is in fact going to be at the convention.

It was the same way with the original PSO. PSO was the very first console game to feature online multiplayer in an RPG context. There was almost NO major coverage of it before it came out. After it came out....the same. PSO was supported, almost wholly, by it's community and it's community ALONE. The game generated legions of devoted fans....people who played for hours and hours for years on end...whole communities sprang from it...yet, it's still treated like some footnote in the history of online RPGs. Back in those DC days, the magazines and the websites were still more concerned with the big-name, hype titles that might have been years off than in seriously supporting and taking an interest in PSO.
Same thing seems to be happening again. Gamespy is the only website to be doing any regular coverage, it would seem, by releasing interviews with various members of the development team all this week, plus a slew of new images.
Sega themselves are partially to blame for this lack of interest....their marketing has been focused on other projects, and surprisingly little on PSU, regardless of what system. So, it feels like PSO all over again....tons of fan interest, virtually no media interest.

ya Sega's unsatisfactory U.S. marketing really hurts the games that deserve it most.

maybe ppl are being a bit spoiled expecting a free demo but like the Japan incident, Sega seems to be aware that overhyping the game will learve them unprepared for the unexpected amount of ppl that might fill up the servers. But that's what reassurance and preparation is for to avoid such disasters.

It would be really sad if the same mistake is made by SOA and everyone has to endure an extra month of rollbacks and adding servers/worlds while ppl are having a heck of a time trying to play online.

Just face it.. PSU will be overshadowed.. Just look at the great looking next-gen jRPG's that are coming to the 360.. Blue Dragon, Lost Oddesy and Trusty bell (was really impressed by that one, best cell shading I've seen in my life O_O) and PSU can't compete with that graphicly...

exactly! Sonic is the only strong franshise SEGA still has.. and I haven't seen a good Sonic game since Sonic Adventure 1.. Sonic used to a be the fast little guy that was small compared to a human, and sonic used to live on Mobius not in a city..
