View Full Version : Grinding, and you!

So far I've only had the balls the grind some 2000 meseta C-weapons (broke one) and only one measley B-rank weapon, and that was with a Grinder/B+5. The person doing the grinding tells you your odds, but not in exact percentages.

I've noticed that with a C-weapon (2000 meseta one in this case) w/ a C+5 or so Grinder, the lady told me "it was certain". Using +2, +3, or +4 on the 2nd grind, it was "chances are very high". I eventually broke one, even though she said my chances were "very high". I wound up making a B+5 today, so though WTF, and grinded a 5-star Sword (had 20% to dark too!). Anyways, it worked, but even with +5, I only got the "very high". I guess it could've broke.

Has anyone noticed an exact correlation w/ grinding? Are the +10's always certain? Have you fucked up a good weapon yet?

I only really grind 3 star weapons because I'm pretty poor. But generally about 3 higher will give you a high chance (c+4 on a +1, c+5 on a +2, etc), which results in a quite quite high % chance. I usually just use 2 higher though, but I've broke a +7 rifle with a c+9 grinder the other day, then a +5 rifle with a c+7 grinder the next day. I was so sad. Considering I'm still running around with 3 +7 weapons, the chances with using a 2 higher are probably pretty high (atleast for the lowest grinds).

Its also comparative. a +10 grinder will always be certain on a ungrinded weapon, but a +10 grinder might not be certain on a +8 weapon.

What you mean broke one?
... If grind fails you lose the weapon? or does it simply revert back to +0? ...

You lose the weapon, and +10 can still end up breaking your weapon... O.o

If you fail, its gone, dust, never to be seen again.

But also, keep in mind that grinding has higher advantages in PSU. Just grinding a medium amount on low star weapons can give them as high as 1.5x their normal ATP.

For grinding, I like to get to +3 then stop, after that the odds of breaking seem to get a lot higher. Then again I only use C+3 or C+4 grinders, so that may have something to do with it.

With rifles grinding is very good, raises the atp about 30, so it only takes a few grinds to make a 3* rifle stronger than a 4*

With double handguns, grinding raises the atp by a measley 4 points, which is not worth the risk at all

If a grind fails the weapon is destroyed.

But then both shots have +4 attack, so its like getting +8 attack, right?

People on 5th avenue are outraged with this development that makes them be on par with grinding in psu.

Apparently, you didn't keep up with the image BBS (http://psu.rdy.jp/src/up4611.jpg)? ;o

To translate these 'ranks' of grinding success odds into percentages or the like, someone would need to do some more testing I guess.

Huh, so if it fails, you don't even get an item called "hunk of useless sharp metal bits", eh? Unfortunate. I haven't grinded anything past 3 or 4, myself.

The question is, if grinding fails do you get anything usable out of it? Like materials or usable items? Or is it completely killed out of your item list?

no way, if you fail a grind then you lose the weapon? screw that, especially since I spended like 550000 on my super awesome S-rank weapon.

Nice -- you are my official hero of the moment!

EDIT: Only accurate up to 3-star weapons. Also, I thought a persons "luck" (the sparkling next to their name) affected rares. I wonder if it helps synthesizing too.
