Cop cars should have those signs like pizza delivery cars.

The sign would be iluminated, and say "POLICE"

You'd see it on the road just as well, but it wouldnt be such a distraction if they were on the side of the road, so no rubbernecking looking at lights.

And pizza cars should have the lights.

This way, I can see the car down the road, and know to go ahead and put my pants on a little before they get to my door. You don't know how many times I've had a knock on my door, and had to tell the pizza hut guy to wait a minute.

And the pizza would get to you faster. the pizza guy turns on the light, and traffic gets out of the way.
