I heard PSO for Xbox had extra lag due to voice chat now and then, even if you werent using a headset.

any thoughts concerning this for PSU?

no, the voice lag that we were talking about is where someone would speak then 2 whole seconds later everyone would hear what they said, not actual in game lag.

Well... Voice lag wasn't that much of a big issue in PSO... The real problem was in Lobbys where a 10yo kid was screaming in his headset... I hope we will be able to mute more easily than in PSO where you had 6 ppl talking and you couldn't find the one to mute... Good 'ol PSO... lol

Saner's topics are getting funny. I highly doubt Voice Chat will lag the game in anyway, shape or form...unless they have horrible servers.

That's bullshit Saner.

The only lag asscociated with Voice Chat in PSOX was the Voice Chat lag itself. IN no way did it lag the game.

Just stop. Please?

Btw, I think s/he has been talking about voice lag, not lagging the actual game, calm down a bit. xD

"Extra lag due to voice chat now and then" implies the game was worse off because of the Voice Chat, which is nonsense.

The voice lag wasn't even much of an issue in PSOX; it was still far more efficient thant typing.

I'm certain PSU's Voice Chat will be perfectly fine.

Voice Chat is no longer handled by the game, but by the 360 UI. So all games use the same interface to enable Voice Chat.

So PSU isn't going to have any more voice lag than any other online game.

I don't think voice chat has a thing to do with PSU's lag, correct me if I'm wrong but I really don't thinkg it does. It doesn't lag up any other of my games.

In the entire time I played PSOX I never encountered this. If a person experienced lag it was because of there ISP and the retransmissions they encountered with the router and or modems.

wow did anyone ever tell you that you over analyze things?

secondly i dont really see how voice chat is more efficient since anything you would need to know is on your hud.its not like a fps where you cant see team mates health and one would need to call for help. most of the chatting that goes on during gameplay is rather short.

This is a valid topic & question. It's retarded how people jumped on Saner because they don't have any tolerance.

Yeah, but you can ask something that makes no sense and still have a valid question. I do agree that they did jump at Saner kind of quickly, but still if you've played PSO on the xbox you would know that the voice chat didn't lag the gameplay at all. Also if you kind of look at it in a certain way, this topic almost seems like a trolling topic.

Saner tends to come off as a troll with their skeptical standing towards the 360 version of PSU, it doesn't bother me but some people really have taken a disliking to it.

Edit: Rephrased the first sentence; typed a question like a proposition. >.>

Pfft, oh please. It's not like the opinions of people on the internet directly affect Saner. He has made a reputation for himself in asking obvious question through topics, so it's not like everyone jumping on him was entirely unfounded.

But I agree, this topic ended a long time ago lol

Though the thread is closed, believe it or not but I -just- thought of the headache to come while playing the game.

Voice Chat has it's pluses and minuses, but there seem to be more minuses though.

Oh.. I can hear the baby commandos(8-14yr olds constantly talking and telling people what to do dispite the fact that everyone already knows) yelling in the mic. Or those idiots who get on the mic and just be....idiots..and the singers..who can't sing. http://www.angelfire.com/droid/boltz/meg5.bmp

I seriously hoping for a mute feature either that or asprin.http://www.angelfire.com/droid/boltz/meg4.bmp That should be one of the extra pre-order offers...

It's a possibility, but a very small one, that voice chat will affect the game. I forsee problems in the following situations...

1. If you have video chat, voice chat may cause you to lag/crash (from what I've heard so far).

2. Do NOT connect your 360 to Windows Media Center through your computer. It constantly tries to connect, and if you have a monitor that goes into standby mode, it will fail to connect, not tell you it failed (since it tries to connect ALL THE TIME) and cause all kinds of slowdown/crash problems. This happened to me, two days ago I removed windows media center from my computer and voila, no more slowdown, crashes, and general problems that have plagued me since a week ago when I installed the crap.

3. If you private chat in-game and then return to the game chat, you may have problems hearing other people, and them hearing you.

These could all be true, they could all be false concerning PSU, I hope they are false, but judging from the experiences I have had with the 360 and games like battlefield 2 and Ghost Recon, they are possibilities. Let's just hope that Sonic Team is working closely with Microsoft to test voice chat capabilities under ALL conditions.

I know, but it should be handled by the game. The 360 UI is really doing a horrible job of it at the moment since video chat released. I've had reports of several friends randomly disconnect when entering voice chat since video chat was released, (the first two days were a nightmare) and some games that have an in-game chat completely backfire when it's users go into private chat and try to return. Voice chat won't lag the game I think, but there are several forseeable problems.

For someone accusing me of over analyzing everything, you sure are quick to stuff words down my throat. I never once said Voice Chat was more effecient. I said that implying the game would have been better off without Voice Chat was idiotic, because it only added another medium for communication, and played zero part in lagging the game.

Alisha what he says is true. For any action-based game, voice chat can mean the difference between life and death. I forsee problems, but not voice chat induced lag.

Actually, certain voice programs due cause lag in gameplay. The best prgram I would recommend using is Ventrillio since I have not had any problems with it on any online game that I've played. As for voice chat in psu, really its not needed. PSU is a fast paced action rpg, but its no FPS or RTS.

Me and a buddy logged on our vent server to play PSU the first day we got it. We haven't used it since. Its not that its a hassle or too hard or whatever. But typing in PSU is too much fun. Especially with the emotes and text bubble styles. Plus even though things get kinda hairy at times, there has never been a need to say something so urgent that we needed voice chat. So we just stopped logging on whenever we play.

So, as long as your using the right program and not on stoneage6k, you should be good.

The 360 has a built in Voice Chat feature. I believe that was meant as the scope of this topic, and not 3rd party programs for the PC.

You bring up a very valid point however.
